Spring Styles to Wear Now

Is it just me or is 2019 passing along quickly? Welcome to March which is said to come in like a lion and out like a lamb. Sometimes fashion seasons and the weather don't match up but the fashion show must go on! While I'm waiting for the weather to catch up I'm wearing some new spring items with some added warmth now and I'll wear them without the layers later. Here's just a few examples of how you can take spring items and start wearing them now. One of my favorite items to wear is a loose tunic - they are comfortable, cute and flattering. While I love a tunic with skinny jeans right now it needs a little extra layer for warmth so I'm topping this tunic I picked up at the Southern Women's Show with my utility jacket. When the weather warms up I'll either wear with the jeans alone, white pants or even a khaki skirt. Wear It Now Wear It Later

I came across this pink dress I just had to have it - it's so fun and super flattering. To wear …

International Women’s Day with Style Collective

Happy International Women's Day.This year I'm celebrating IWD with my Style Collective sisters so I hope when you're done reading here you'll go check them out.  If you're new here - Welcome! My name is Amanda and I'm a 34 year old working professional living in the Memphis suburbs with my husband and three dogs. I blogged on and off in my 20s and revamped the blog in its current form about two years ago with two objectives - 1. to hold myself accountable to clearing out my closet and make better purchases and 2. to provide representation in the online and social media world to plus size women. I distinctly remember looking at a top at Old Navy online but doubting how it would look on me so I went on Instagram to look for other plus size women wearing it (because in 2017 Old Navy did not sell Plus Sizes in store to allow me to just try it on) - I spent an hour searching through pics tagged with Old Navy and various tags but barely saw any plus size women and th…

Fat Not Miserable

February wasn't a great weight loss month for me - between The Super Bowl , Valentine's Day, Soup Sunday, Eating out with my Dad in town, and at little emotional eating I only lost 5 lbs. Of course I say "only" but if I only lost 5 lbs every month left in this year that would put me at loosing 68 lbs this year and that's nothing to be sad about.
I'm on a food plan but to be honest I do deviate from it on the weekends; obviously February was a learning curve for me about how to go off plan and still lose and what's too far off plan vs what's ok. I know at lot of  people when they are on a weight loss plan don't believe in "cheating" or going off plan but for me it's important - one because looking at over a year of being in wight loss mode is very daunting and I find it easier to tackle each week at a time but also because quite frankly I don't want to lose too much weight too fast. Yes, that's right - I don't want to lo…

Loft Plus Spring 2019

Hello Friends! Last night I celebrated the one year anniversary of the Loft Plus Collection and had the opportunity to see all the new spring styles. Even though it has only been a year I have a significant number of Loft items in my closet. I love Loft because they have great work wear but items are still low key enough that I can wear them on the weekends too and that my friends is my sweet spot when it comes to clothing.

The Spring 2019 collections is full of floral ,stripes and polka dots - which means that many items are things that you can buy now and wear for years - another sweet spot! Green and navy are the two main colors with some lilac , yellow and blush and of course black and whites.

One of my favorite things about Loft is although the clothes are work friendly they still have feminine embellishments - the trifecta of sweet spots! Some of my favorite items from the collection include flounce sleeves and hems and I've included my top picks here.
If I c…

Utility Jacket Three Way Style

Hello Friends~ I'm back at it again with some more three way style. I'd been thinking of getting a utility jacket for over a year and finally found one I liked when I was at Lane Bryant earlier this month. I love basic classic pieces that can stand the test of time when it comes to fashion and trends and a utility jacket certainly fits that bill but I've always found them a little too masculine for my style. I then thought about getting a pink utility jacket as that is certainly feminine but I was really drawn to the Lane Bryant jacket with a ruffle front - a great feminine embellishment - but the overall look is still classic. Plus, I'm all about challenging myself this year when it comes to style so what better way than to add a piece that's a little outside my comfort zone.

For my first look I kept it very basic - I feel like a stripe shirt and jeans is the most common way I see utility jackets style. I added some statement earrings, funky glasses and blue loa…

20 Guildelines for Financial Responsibility

As a blogger I constantly worry if I am supporting over consumerism and irresponsible spending. At the end of the day I can say Oh, I LOVE this item and it was so worth it to me but I have to hope that people are making the right decisions based on their own financial situation. But since finance is a passion of mine (it is my day job after all) and since so many of y'all are looking to focus on your own finances in 2019 I thought it might be good to take a step back from fashion and talk about the money honey! I don't claim to have all the answers or to be an expert, but I've learned a lot between my education, my career and to be honest making some bad financial decisions myself so I've complied a list of 20 guidelines for financial success from the basics to saving for the future. The Basics 1. You absolutely must be able to cover the four walls - your home and all utilities and maintenance - and your necessary expenses (food, car, gas) before you can think about…

The Girl in the Wal-Mart Shirt

When I talked about weight loss I mentioned how I was never outright made fun of for my weight. I'm always shocked when I hear people talk about their HS experience because man, kids can be SO mean. But that's not to say I was never made fun of in HS - I totally was. When my family moved to the Memphis area it was the summer before my freshman year and I was so excited because everyone is starting fresh in high school,. or so I thought. I had no idea that my high school already had formalized cliques set up and I never had a chance of being invited in. Even though I was chubby but still at a healthy weight I didn't really work out much and had never been one to exercise for fun so I wasn't "fit" and all freshman had to take gym - I dreaded gym because it highlighted how much I didn't fit in. Not only could I not run as fast or do as many sit up at the other girls but I had developed earlier than most of them too - I was 14 and wearing a 36C bra and that…
