Custom Hair Care with Formulate

I've had short hair most of my life, but the past few years I have been growing my hair out and one thing has become very clear - long hair is a commitment. And long hair that has been color treated for years is a project, which is why I was so excited when the team at Formulate reached out to have me try their new custom shampoo and conditioner. Even better yet - we have teamed up to give one lucky reader their own custom set for FREE!

Enter GIVEAWAY here! Getting hair care customized for your hair sounds complicated but the process was very simple as a consumer - I took a brief survey about my hair's current condition and what my hair goals were - you can pick up to five. This is Us

Y’all this year I was so excited for our anniversary activity - the 2nd anniversary traditional gift is cotton and there was a cotton field nearby. The website said “mid October” would be the perfect time for pictures so I booked a session for our anniversary weekend on the 21st. We stop by the field the day before to check it out and it was all gone. Even though no harvest date was listed on the website a week earlier it had since been updated that the cotton was harvested that Friday – seriously, they couldn’t have given one more weekend for photos, grr! All the other cotton fields were too far away so I cried how our anniversary was ruined. We wound up moving photos to the same spot where we took our wedding photos and brought along the dogs to get our family Christmas card photo. This session did not go as well as I would have liked – Because I didn’t plan to originally have the dogs sweetie was not freshly groomed. My brand new sweater got snagged by one of the dogs getting in and…

Corporate Cool with Maree Pour Toi

I'm pretty lucky in that my day job is very casual - so sequin and large tulle skirts aside most of my fashion posts are real outfits I can wear on the weekends and during the week. Just because I can wear jeans any day of the week doesn't mean that's what I wear though - I've always been the type of person to dress up more than I dress down and my work life is no exception. My last look from Maree Pour Toi featured a dressy look dressed up and down but today I'm mixing and matching dressy and casual pieces for a "corporate cool" look.

First off, I am so in love with the Compression Slim Pant - I am wearing them in wine but they also come in black, olive and navy. I'm pretty sure I need the navy ones as well. Hearing "compression" made me a little nervous but these are not tight or uncomfortable at all. Made of a soft material they are a heavy knit with a bit of spandex to provide stretch and support. I sometimes go up a size in pants si…

Why I Blog

Years before I had an instagram account I had a Yelp account and I must admit that my very first review was a terrible 1 star review. While I think honest good and bad experiences are valuable on review sites I realized that's not the person I wanted to be. Instead of only putting negative thoughts into the world I challenged myself that for every negative review to take the time to write five positive reviews. Soon I found myself gushing over businesses I love and writing reviews of businesses I was trying for the first time. Within a few months I was invited to join the Elite squad - now I  have over 250 reviews and have reached gold elite status - this means I've been on the squad for five years. As much as I enjoy sharing reviews I enjoy reading them. I'm a planner and researcher by nature so before I go anywhere I want to know as much as possible. For example, when we go out to California we're going to have tea at the Hello Kitty Grand Café - I have read every …

Floral for Fall with Maree Pour Toi

At some point I realized that one great dress would be so much better than a closet full of "just ok" dresses so every season I look for one great dress that I feel fabulous in and has versatility. This fall this task was super easy with Maree Pour Toi . Maree Pour Toi offers beautiful high quality clothing is size 12 to 24 with a focus on the perfect fit. .

As soon as I saw the inaugural collection I felt like the folks at Maree Pour Toi have been reading every single word I've written here and designed a line just for me. While I like to keep up with trends I tend to stick to classic styles that I can wear for years and the quality to last those years but I still need to keep my clothing purchases affordable. Because I work full time the majority of my clothing purchases need to be work appropriate but something I can wear beyond the office - Maree Pour Toi checks all of those boxes.

When it seems like an entire clothing line as been created to fit your needs it ma…

Whiskey in a Teacup Tour Experience

Over the weekend I was in Nashville for the Whiskey in a Teacup book tour. I have been excited to read this book since I first heard Reese Witherspoon was writing a book and when I heard about the tour I knew I wanted in. One thing I am trying to get more comfortable with is not being afraid to do things I really want to do by myself. So as much as I love seeing everyone else's mother / daughter or girls night out experiences the truth of the matter is the $423 I spent on the VIP Ticket is a lot of money so I could not find anyone is my circle who was willing to make that spend but I decided to make the best of it and attend anyway.  The VIP Ticket included a meet and greet with Reese Witherspoon including a photo, a signed copy of Whiskey in a Teacup, a Draper James tote filled with Reese Witherspoon's favorite products and orchestra seating at the very front for the talk. The talk was scheduled for 7:30pm and my instructions had me arrive at 6pm for the 6:15pm meet and gre…
