Saturday was a fun filled day. I slept in past 10am which was sooo nice. After a weekend treat breakfast, affection time with the pets and getting lillyfied I headed on a field trip to my friend Kathleen's business - Tennessee Pewter. Although only 40 miles and less than an hour from where I live Somerville feels so far away so despite knowing Kathleen for 2 years this was my first visit to her shop.
I met Kathleen through the junior league and she is wonderful - an elegant but modern southern lady full of charm. Her shop is beautiful as you can see so naturally I enjoyed the trip not only by seeing a friend but by satisfying my shopping addiction. Since it was an open house I got a tour of how the pieces are made - molded, welded and polished. Fun fact: Kathleen is actually known nationally for the high polish her pewter has - a lot of it looks like sterling silver. I went with the intention of getting knife rests ( very refined, I've never been to a diner where these were used) and engraved napkin rings. I also took my julep cups previously purchased as I've was naughty and left water in them too long but Kathleen can re polish - yay! The stuff is way more beautiful in person so I couldn't resist a few other items that had been on my maybe list. After some time chatting between friends I headed back to memphis and took advantage of the opportunity to listen to my new Nashville soundtrack. I'm so glad I finally got around to getting to see what my friend does!
