Fashion Find Friday - J Crew Chandelier Sweatshirt

Recently I've upgraded the look of my blog to look a little neater and a little more "me". One thing I did while updating is go back and tag all of my old post, I actually still have 50ish left to tag, it's exhausting y'all! But it gave me a really good idea of what I'm accomplishing on the blog besides just giving my friends a way to keep up, my reader numbers indicate that there are plenty of people I don't know IRL reading - hey y'all!

So tagging my posts gave me an idea of what this blog is about and an idea on how I can better direct my posts moving forward rather than jumping all over the place. So this is basically a lifestyle blog with an emphasis on fashion and fun activities. So what better way to focus on some fashion than by sharing it with some of you. I recently had a coworker ask me about ebay, because she had never shopped on there before. WHAAAAATTTT?!?!?!?!

So, if you don't shop on ebay you really should, especially if there's a particular brand you are loyal to or looking for a particular sold out item. I grew up in a household where everything was new to us but really there's nothing wrong with someone else's gently used treasures. Often you can find things in great condition because the prior owner had buyer's remorse, changed sizes, is cleaning out their closet, needs money or is a professional ebayer. I've noticed though that my best finds have come from other fashion enthusiast but from time to time I do find things I like the professionals are selling.  In no particular order my top 5 favorite ebay finds are:

1. The Gucci Blanket
2. Louis Vuitton Purse
3. Lilly Pulitzer Drama Queen Elsa top
4. Hello Kitty for Forever 21 jewelry

and this:

5. J Crew Chandelier Sweatshirt

I had Shaun snap this quickly this morning, not my greatest pic but not my worst. I've been sick this week and it was 11 degree this morning. Mostly I was excited to be wearing a warm AND cute top.

Since this top is in fact sold out on the J Crew site I recommend searching on ebay if you need one too. I had a search saved with alerts and it took about two weeks for this one to become available, not bad. And for the record I was on the prowl for this before Mindy wore it; but Mindy did increase my desire! Here's the stock photo and it on Mindy for a better look:

Unlike Mindy, I'm wearing mine at work - not to work out.

Let me know if you have a favorite fashion find!

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

OMG, Ipsy finally has a cute bag for the month!
Seriously, this month's coral ticket design bag is super cute and would make a fun little clutch for a night out at a festival or fair.
The items I received this month weren't terrible either. Here's what's inside my bag and my thoughts on each product:
OFRA Cosmetics Peach Blush $12 Everything I've received from this company in my Ipsy bad is a full-sized product (nice)! However they need to be in a refillable palette so that may not be your thing but I just found mine recently so this offends me less. This is overall a nice shade so I'll add it to my palette.
Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel $30 This is a little more lightweight than the aloe gel you can get in a giant bottle at CVS but I'm skeptical yet if that makes it worth $30 for a jar. We're going to the beach in May so the timing is good and I'm sure I'll use the whole sample.
No Poreblem Primer $18 This is a nice, lightweight primer and has a …

Sensible Portions

I'm Sometimes you have to recognize your strengths and when it's time to outsource . For me a healthy lifestyle is not a strength. I love the idea of eating small healthy meals and working out everyday but then I get hangry and eat anything in sight. Or I have a busy weekend and don't have time to meal prep, and then I'm screwed for the week and one bad week turns into a bad month, and a bad year and a decade of gaining weight. So, when a sorority sister posted a meal plan she had found success with I was very interested. Shaun and I tried a similar program last year but it was very expensive ($170 for one person for 5 days) That's a great investment if you need to lose 10 or 20 lbs but when you have a lot to lose you need a long term plan that is viable from a time, nutrition and financial aspect.
Long term it's still pricey but I was very impressed with the value and results of sensible portions and decided to give it a try. Like most meal plans the plan is …

Whiskey in a Teacup Tour Experience

Over the weekend I was in Nashville for the Whiskey in a Teacup book tour. I have been excited to read this book since I first heard Reese Witherspoon was writing a book and when I heard about the tour I knew I wanted in. One thing I am trying to get more comfortable with is not being afraid to do things I really want to do by myself. So as much as I love seeing everyone else's mother / daughter or girls night out experiences the truth of the matter is the $423 I spent on the VIP Ticket is a lot of money so I could not find anyone is my circle who was willing to make that spend but I decided to make the best of it and attend anyway.  The VIP Ticket included a meet and greet with Reese Witherspoon including a photo, a signed copy of Whiskey in a Teacup, a Draper James tote filled with Reese Witherspoon's favorite products and orchestra seating at the very front for the talk. The talk was scheduled for 7:30pm and my instructions had me arrive at 6pm for the 6:15pm meet and gre…

What’s in the bag : Toiletry Essentials to Pack for Your Next Trip

I’ve  been traveling so much lately so I’ve pretty much got packing down to a science. Planning for a trip can be stressful so I’m here to make it a little easier for you and talk about the necessities, today were specifically talking about what’s in the toiletry bag. As a special treat I have teamed up with Smile Brilliant for a giveaway at the end of this post!!! When thinking about necessities I first think about the things I don’t need - hotels always have shampoo, conditioner and a hairdryer so I never bring my own to save space.  I then think about what items I use at home that I can go without for the week vs. what I use everyday. I also try to think about  products that are good for multipurpose; facial oil is a great example as I use it for a makeup remover at night , a moisturizer in the morning and I also use a small amount on the ends of my hair. Through this I’ve been able to narrow it down to only ten items.
1. Hairbrush

2. Deodorant

3. Toothbrush

4. Toothpaste

5. Facia…

20 Rules for Modern Feminine Style

One of the things I love about the digital age is the ability to connect with others! I recently got a great idea from a youtuber I follow to make a list of 20 "rules" that define my lifestyle and I really loved this idea and thought not only would this be a good exercise for myself but a good topic to share with y'all. So, obviously you do you and wear whatever you want but these are my guidelines for my modern feminine without breaking the bank aesthetic.
1. Focus on pieces with wear ability beyond one season, don't get sucked into too many trends. For example, gingham will always be wearable for summer, plaid for fall, sweaters for winter and floral for spring - but get pieces with classic cuts so you can wear them year after year. For example, a gingham shirt dress is classic, a gingham top with bell sleeves will look dated the second that shape is out. 2. Don't be afraid to spend a little more for quality timeless pieces - a cashmere sweater, a great blac…
