Lilly Pulitzer Elsa of the Month

So obviously I love Lilly Pulitzer. And you may recall that I also love the Elsa top. So imagine my excitement when it was announced that this year there would be an Elsa of the month. I might have squealed with delight. Here are the first 6 months worth of Elsa's:

January: Tusk in Sun

This is a VERY popular print, as in a cotton dress original sold for $98 goes for $200 to $300 on ebay. But the original print had blue elephants with a redish pink background. I expected this to be a sell out but the Lilly community seems upset by the color change. I like it and will probably buy if available beyond January as I already spend at the New Year Cheer sale this month. See, this is me sticking to my 2014 resolutions.

February: Hotty Pink First Impression

Another incredibly popular print. I have this in a dress and it's my bedding. I have already told the fabulous ladies at Mica and Molly's I want one and please order me one in my size. Mica and Molly are a sister team who have a super cute store in Florida full of preppy brands, they are very active in the online Lilly community and are great at doing "fashion shows" when stuff comes out so we can see how it fits. I appreciate this service immensely.

Update: I recieved this top and it was beautiful and I quickly wore to work. But I just didn't love this print in a top as much as I expected. So, as cute as it was I passed along to another lilly lover and she's thrilled with it, reinforcing not holidng onto it was the right thing to do. I still just really love the Clare I wore to baubles and bowties last year.

March: Cosmo Pink Party Favors

This is a pattern from last summer. I wasn't thrilled with it then and I won't be buying it now. There was a clutch in this print last summer as a GWP you can find on ebay should it interest you and matching is your thing.

April: Chin Chin

Although listed as the May rpint this is actually the April print. This is a pink elephant print, I LOVE pink elephants and will get this one too. I do have the beach pants in this print so this and the February Elsa are closet rule violators for me. I have such cute accessories for this though, I just have to get it.

Update: I have received this and have yet to wear it but it's just as beautiful as I could have expected and the accessories I planned to wear with it go as perfectly as I could have expected. As soon as I remember to stock up on fashion tape I'll be wearing this one.

May: Let's Cha Cha

Another print from Summer 2013, the most popular print to date. I already have this in a dress and top so will be skipping out not because the top isn't beautiful but because I do try to limit myself to one item per print and I'm already in violation of that.

Update: a friend posted a picture online becuase some store have gotten it in early. The colors are really beautiful on the silk. So beautiful I was tempted to change my mind on this one but for now I'm standing my ground and sticking with the stuff I already have.

June: Booze Cruise

Yet another Summer 2013 print. I have the Amada dress in this print. The Amada dress is gorgeous and will be much more Memphis June appropriate than a silk top so I will pass. It is a beautiful print though  and I recommend my northeast girls give it strong consideration.

If you are interested, tops are $158 and stores are taking pre orders. If you do go through Mica and Molly's it would be oh so kind if you mentioned I referred you just so they know how much they are appreciated, they ship for free and as a TN resident I do not pay sales tax.

UPDATE 3/12

It's not super official but since word has spread  of the next three and the prints match I am 90% certain I now know the full years line up of prints. I did not receive this info from my favorite store but there's some pics on Instagram I won't post that have the info. If you're not familiar with the prints you're just going to have to do a google image search. When the announcement is official Ill add a photo.

July: Stuffed Shells

This is an incredibly popular print in the Lilly world. It just doesn't do it for me put lots of people love it so jump on it if you're going to want one.

August: Tusk in Sun

This time it will be pink and green elephants like the murfette that was out during the 2012 election. Super weird they are doing this print twice but I'm excited as I've regreted not buying the January, I like the pink and green much better. I expect this print to be a sell out like other verisions have been. I know some of my GOP friends are interested.

September: Wild Confetti

This print is from Fall 2012, it's cute but antoher that just doesn't speak to me. The colors are really nice and it would be great for the fall so I might change my mind on this one when I get to see the actual top. I do recommend considering it.

October: Checking In

The navy version of this has only been offered in a scarf before and it's very hard to find these days so I anticipate this being a popular one. I plan on getting, the print is really cute.

November:Coral Cascade

I have a wrap in this print and love it. Its not one of my all time favorite prints so I'm not going to break my one item per print rule but it is a very nice print.

December: Dripping in Jewels

As stated above I'm super excited about this and will be purchasing. I really recommend if you'll be going to a mardi gras party in Spring 2015 you get one. Or if you live in / love New Orleans.

So this puts me on getting at least five of the 12 tops offered. Overall I'm pleased with the collection and actually a little grateful financially that I didn't love all 12. LP corporate has just announced they're doing a elsa of the month punch card, if you buy 3 you get a pair of bow earring and if you buy 6 you get a murfee scarf. This promo is only good for corporate stores but some of the locally owned stores seem to be doing their own thing. Corporate stores will honor the promo on the January, February and March purchases already made if done online or through a corporate store with a receipt. I like the promo but as I've said before I really don't respect when corporate competes against the locally owned stores. I already have the bow earring and although being able to pick a murfee is super duper tempting I most likley won't be getting six elsas to be eligible for this. It seems a little odd to announce this promo 3 months in, and that Lilly is being all hush hush on the last prints; just some thoughts. I'm obvoiusly buying and the awkwardness of the campaign isn't keeping me away.

Update: I did hear from my local store that these elsas are selling very well and they predicted this will be done again next year. Since this was a test year for the program I'll cut a little slack on the awkward promotion timing but I really hope next year there's a clear definition of what the incentives are for multiple purchases. Like I wonder, let's say I bought one during lunch at lilly and used that towards those gifts promotions, would that elsa still be eligible for the cumulative elsa gifts? It really seems more complicated that it should be although I'm extremly excited for the opportunity to purchase something in some popular no longer current prints. The release of the elsa in First Impression and Tusk in Sun seems to have lessed the demand for other items in this print at ridiculously high ebay prices so that's good news too. If this promotion will indeed be going on next year I can't wait to see what is offered.

Comments

  1. Do you happen to know if Mica and Molly's is participating in the punch card promo. I just realized I already have 2 ordered from them and a few more on my "want" list so I'm wondering if I should stick to that store for my future purchases... hmmm.

    1. I think I saw them say somewhere they would match the promotion but I would check with them just to be sure. They're super nice and respond quickly on Facebook

Ipsy Ocotber 2017

I thought I had unsubscribed from Ipsy but apparently I just skipped last month so yesterday I had the unexpected surprise of an ipsy bag in the mail. The October bag is really cute and I will absolutely use this as my purse makeup bag. As for the products I have mixed feelings, here's what's inside:   Marc Anthony True Professional  Hydrating Coconut Oil $11.80 I usually don't use a oil in my hair but my ends have been kinda dry and frizzy lately so I figured hey why not. I was pleasantly surprised how this didn't make my hair feel greasy or weighted down and it did make the ends smoother so it's something I would consider purchasing in the future. I do wish it came in different scents, this one smells beachy which is nice but this time of year I'd prefer a less tropical scent.
Dermelect Nail Polish $12 I'm not even going to link to this product I thought it was that awful. I personally am not a fan of the shade but that aside the formula had an awful app…

Sunday Secrets - Behind the Filter

Two weeks ago I posted a "Sunday Secrets" post giving a little insight on the real me vs the social media me and I really enjoyed it and decided to try making it a regular thing. When I first started blogged it was mostly just a journal about my life I shared with my facebook friends filled my thoughts and personal rants. Since "cleaning up" my posts earlier this year I realized that I've missed having that outlet and I've worried that in only talking about this beauty product or that outfit I might be too shallow and it's ok to be a little bit real online sometimes. So today I'm taking about my life behind the instagram filtered lens.

Instagram filtered version of me  Latley I've been a little overwhelmed by adulting. I don't remember my parents ever acting like just being an adult is hard. I was too young to remember much from when my paternal grandfather died but I do remember my maternal grandparents dying within a year of each other a…

Trunk Club Review

Recently I saw the trunk club service advertised on instagram and I was very interested. The service started as a personal shopping service for men but since being purchased by Nordstrom has expanded the service offering to women. The basic premise is something similar to Stich Fix - create a profile providing sizes, likes and dislikes, converse with a stylist and be sent a box with 10 items to try on -keep what you like and send back the rest. This service has a $25 styling fee that is waived for Nordstrom card holders. When I first created my profile I knew that I wanted to add some tops to my wardrobe but I was really looking for a dress to wear to my brother in laws upcoming wedding. I was super excited when my assigned stylist indicated I could request specific items and there were three items I asked to be included. Before the trunk is sent out you have the option to preview, decline any items that are not what you're looking for and then either just get the previewed item…

Vi Peel

Hello! So I got my first Vi Peel which I was super excited about. Since the Botox post was popular I figure y'all would like this too. Besides, it's well established I'm beyond any sense of privacy or shame here.
I got my first peel years ago - a mild Glycolic peel added onto my facial when I turned 23. Then a few years ago I went to a friends Botox party, I was 26 and scared of Botox at the time but I got a TCA peel and liked the results but not the price tag so I bought the solution online and started doing them myself. All was fine and dandy at home until I stopped following the instructions, opps. The peel was supposed to be applied with a cotton pad , I had the genius idea this past march to brush it on. It dripped and got too deep into my skin resulting on uneven peeling.
So I had to wait for that mess to heal before I could get it professionally fixed. I decided to switch to the vi peel because its supposed to be better and hurts less, tca literally produces tear…

Nordstrom Rack Memphis

Last week was a big week for Memphis shoppers - our very own Nordstrom Rack opened! I like Nordstrom Rack, it's one of my favorite places to shop online, so I was excited to hear that we were getting one in Memphis.

When visiting the new store I was surprised at how much it reminded me of a TJ Maxx. The home section is much smaller, the shoe section much larger and there's no jewelry case but otherwise it's similar in size, layout and merchandise. One difference I appreciate is that the purse and clothing sections are separated out by designer - so if for example you're looking to buy a Tory Burch bag you don't have to look through all of the bags - they are organized together. Shoes are not separated by specific designer but they are in two areas - regular and designer, which seemed to be shoes over $150 a pair. Super small home section Women's clothing Purses! I really want one of these Rebecca Minkoff bags Pretty earrings For plus sizes I'm torn on ho…
