Duly Noted

Yay! Today I got the proofs for my latest stationary order. Here's my goodies:

Modern Monogram cards. This is a little bit more fun and festive than I usually go but I just couldn't resist. I'll most likely use these for thank you notes and fun words of encouragement if a friend has a big project coming up. I got these for 40% off through a one day deal, I ordered at 1am so sorry I didn't have time to get the word out.

This is actually a party invitation. Originally I was looking for congratulations cards but I decided to leave black so they could be multipurpose. So freaking cute y'all! Using invites and announcements as stationary is a little trick of mine, I'm big on buying what's on sale. Invites are 15% off through tomorrow with code INVMAR20. I use these types of cards to congratulate contacts on new jobs, recognition or to wish them a happy birthday. It's been REALLY positive, people really appreciate 3 sentences handwritten and mailed to them.

Finally, I got blogger business card. The back is the same print as this blog's background. Originally I had picked a style I liked under contact cards, but business cards were on sale. 15% of through tomorrow with code BCMAR20

With the discounts my order was $54, so I also got free shipping using FREESHIP49. I really love that I can stack the discounts. Also, I like that a designer reviews my cards before they print. The tiny prints team reached out to make sure I meant for the invites to be blank. OMG, could you imagine accidentally not saving your personalization's? I'm terrible at proofreading my own work so I really appreciate a 2nd look over.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

OMG, Ipsy finally has a cute bag for the month!
Seriously, this month's coral ticket design bag is super cute and would make a fun little clutch for a night out at a festival or fair.
The items I received this month weren't terrible either. Here's what's inside my bag and my thoughts on each product:
OFRA Cosmetics Peach Blush $12 Everything I've received from this company in my Ipsy bad is a full-sized product (nice)! However they need to be in a refillable palette so that may not be your thing but I just found mine recently so this offends me less. This is overall a nice shade so I'll add it to my palette.
Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel $30 This is a little more lightweight than the aloe gel you can get in a giant bottle at CVS but I'm skeptical yet if that makes it worth $30 for a jar. We're going to the beach in May so the timing is good and I'm sure I'll use the whole sample.
No Poreblem Primer $18 This is a nice, lightweight primer and has a …

Sensible Portions

I'm Sometimes you have to recognize your strengths and when it's time to outsource . For me a healthy lifestyle is not a strength. I love the idea of eating small healthy meals and working out everyday but then I get hangry and eat anything in sight. Or I have a busy weekend and don't have time to meal prep, and then I'm screwed for the week and one bad week turns into a bad month, and a bad year and a decade of gaining weight. So, when a sorority sister posted a meal plan she had found success with I was very interested. Shaun and I tried a similar program last year but it was very expensive ($170 for one person for 5 days) That's a great investment if you need to lose 10 or 20 lbs but when you have a lot to lose you need a long term plan that is viable from a time, nutrition and financial aspect.
Long term it's still pricey but I was very impressed with the value and results of sensible portions and decided to give it a try. Like most meal plans the plan is …

Whiskey in a Teacup Tour Experience

Over the weekend I was in Nashville for the Whiskey in a Teacup book tour. I have been excited to read this book since I first heard Reese Witherspoon was writing a book and when I heard about the tour I knew I wanted in. One thing I am trying to get more comfortable with is not being afraid to do things I really want to do by myself. So as much as I love seeing everyone else's mother / daughter or girls night out experiences the truth of the matter is the $423 I spent on the VIP Ticket is a lot of money so I could not find anyone is my circle who was willing to make that spend but I decided to make the best of it and attend anyway.  The VIP Ticket included a meet and greet with Reese Witherspoon including a photo, a signed copy of Whiskey in a Teacup, a Draper James tote filled with Reese Witherspoon's favorite products and orchestra seating at the very front for the talk. The talk was scheduled for 7:30pm and my instructions had me arrive at 6pm for the 6:15pm meet and gre…

What’s in the bag : Toiletry Essentials to Pack for Your Next Trip

I’ve  been traveling so much lately so I’ve pretty much got packing down to a science. Planning for a trip can be stressful so I’m here to make it a little easier for you and talk about the necessities, today were specifically talking about what’s in the toiletry bag. As a special treat I have teamed up with Smile Brilliant for a giveaway at the end of this post!!! When thinking about necessities I first think about the things I don’t need - hotels always have shampoo, conditioner and a hairdryer so I never bring my own to save space.  I then think about what items I use at home that I can go without for the week vs. what I use everyday. I also try to think about  products that are good for multipurpose; facial oil is a great example as I use it for a makeup remover at night , a moisturizer in the morning and I also use a small amount on the ends of my hair. Through this I’ve been able to narrow it down to only ten items.
1. Hairbrush

2. Deodorant

3. Toothbrush

4. Toothpaste

5. Facia…

20 Rules for Modern Feminine Style

One of the things I love about the digital age is the ability to connect with others! I recently got a great idea from a youtuber I follow to make a list of 20 "rules" that define my lifestyle and I really loved this idea and thought not only would this be a good exercise for myself but a good topic to share with y'all. So, obviously you do you and wear whatever you want but these are my guidelines for my modern feminine without breaking the bank aesthetic.
1. Focus on pieces with wear ability beyond one season, don't get sucked into too many trends. For example, gingham will always be wearable for summer, plaid for fall, sweaters for winter and floral for spring - but get pieces with classic cuts so you can wear them year after year. For example, a gingham shirt dress is classic, a gingham top with bell sleeves will look dated the second that shape is out. 2. Don't be afraid to spend a little more for quality timeless pieces - a cashmere sweater, a great blac…
