A few weeks ago I posted a pic of my accessories for a night out:
The "clutch" is a Kate Spade item but some of you KS fans might be wondering why you didn't see it. That's because it's not really a clutch, it's a pencil pouch. It even came with a ruler, two pencils a sharpener and eraser - which are now office supplies. At $28 it was quite the KS bargain (from Fall 2013 / holiday gift collection). This particular pouch is supposed to look like the book Emma. They just so happened to make an actual clutch in this print:
If memory served me correctly the clutch was somewhere between $150 to $200. So yay pencil pouch!
I'm also a fan of the makeup bag turned clutch. I do these with Estée Lauder / Lilly bags, Kate Spade bags and Coach bags. Your typical makeup bag is the perfect size for a wallet, phone, keys, compact and a pen - the basic necessities. This is a great way to participate in current fashion trends without buying expensive bags, or having lots of expensive bags that don't get used very often. I just toss all my makeup bag clutches into a bin in my closet. When I'm done using as a fashion accessory they either get used for another purpose or put into my Junior League donate pile.
Here's some thoughts on how to use your excess makeup bag collection:
First aid kit
Fashion emergency kit
Jewelry pouch for travel
Markers / pens pouch
Tread or other craft supply pouch
Stationary supplies pouch
So yeah, I have a bunch of "makeup bags" around my houses serving a multitude of purposes. Let me know if there's some re-purpose opportunities I'm missing out on.
