Fashion Find Friday: Linen Pants

I've written about them before but my love for the Old Navy linen blend pants has no end. This year they come in tall and petite, they also come in more colors.

I already own black , navy , tan and a dark teal. This year I have purchased white , a light teal and a denim style. I delayed my purchase this year because it was still cool in Memphis and unfortunately I missed out on the pink. If anyone has a pair just not working out in XL please let me know!

So recently I wore my white pants with a lightweight sweater to work for casual Friday. I had the bf take this pic right when I got home.

I don't think I'll wear those shoes with these again but oh well. The point I'm making here is that I was super casual.

I left the office a little later than usual and we had 7:30pm symphony tickets, so not a lot of time to change it up but I wanted to be more dressy. So I swapped out the jewelry, purse and shoes and threw on a murfee. Ta-da, instant comfortably dressy:

Memphis friends, you can expect to see me out and about a lot on the look this summer. Plus it will be a nice way to utilize the murfees.

One note I do want to make is I am a firm believer in sizing up when wearing white. White if stretched will become see through, it is also less forgiving figure wise. I don't feel going up a size makes me look bigger and I'm certainly a lot less conscious. As a plus size girl I was afraid of white for the longest time but any color clothing can be slimming when worn properly, what's not slimming is being a stuffed sausage in clothes, even if they are black.

Last year I had the pants dry cleaned. This year I've been washing and I must say, I just prefer how the look when dry cleaned, plus the do shrink a little in the dryer. Since the white are big I might throw in the dryer a few times.

Because I bought this pair in store they are regular length but I have the waist band unfolded and worn low, I'm 5'10 and wearing a low heal in each pic. I can wait for the talls I ordered online to arrive. And oh, please cross your fingers they make more colors!

Hello Fresh Review

One problem with our last house was that the kitchen was a little small, but with our new kitchen we really have no excuse to not cook at home. To start us off on the right foot I started a Hello Fresh subscription.

Subscribers get to select from 8 meals on the weekly menu and can get two or four portions of each meal and 3, 4 or 5 meals per box. We get 4 meals and the cost of the box is $10 / portion / meal - so $80. Each menu also features one premium meal  for an extra $5 / portion.
For our first box I'm sharing step by step with two meals here because I don't think just showing one gives a fair overview of the box. Each box comes with the meat individually packaged, the ingredients per meal all in one brown bag and a recipe card that shows pictures, lists out materials needed and provides step by step instructions. It seems like all the meals involve six steps.

The first meal we made was a fish dish.

The first step was to roast the potatoes with oil in the oven.

Saying Goodbye

If we're friends on Facebook than you might have picked up on why I didn't blog last week - my grandmother passed away last Wednesday. I know I said I want to keep this blog focused on specific topics and less emotional one but the reality is I write it and while I have a whole list of topics I had planned on blogging last week and this week I feel like it's just not right. I still have a few "personal" posts up - my one about being motherless and childless had some readership over the past week being that Sunday was Mother's Day - and today I'm going to add one more personal post. As y'all know my husband and I are moving in June and I'm so glad that on our last "social" day together (we saw her several days in the hospital before she passed) we got to show my Grandma our new house. Our current condo isn't very wheelchair friendly so for the past few years we have been going out to eat on holidays and we were really excited to hos…

Summer Beauty

I feel like Memorial Day is really the kickoff to summer but if you want to be technical yesterday was the first day of summer and it got me thinking about how I change up my beauty routine for summer. I know that it's recommended to change up beauty routines seasonally but I find that I can get away with the same routine for fall, spring and winter  - but summer is a different story and I find myself with different needs during the hot and humid Memphis summer months. Here's some of my summer beauty favorites.
Ogx Quenching Sea Mineral Moisturizing Lotion $7.99 I love this lotion because it's not to thick but not watery thin and it does a good job of keeping skin soft and moisturized without being greasy - plus the nice light sea scent is great for this time of year.
Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt $19 This shampoo scrub is great once a week for gently deep cleansing and get hair squeaky clean - I find it really preps hair to accept the moisture o…

Wardrobe Wednesday - Currently Craving

Although my clothing is mostly unpacked and hanging in the closet I still have all my shoes and accessories in boxes and although I purchased a few items in May as part of my Wardrobe Makeover blogging about them is going to have to wait another week. Today though instead of talking about what I have bought I thought I'd share a few items that I'd like to buy.
Society Plus Whimsy Bow Skirt $52.79 I love this skirt so much, which also comes in blush BTW, and I pretty much want to copy the entire look here. This skirt is named after the Whimsy and Wonder blog and the bow and length really matches my style. I feel like I already have a blush skirt so I should get the purple but I also feel like purple is better in fall and winter so I should wait to purchase. Sam Edelman Yumi Heeled Sandal $120 Mules are really in style right now and trend reports indicate this will carry into the fall. I had a nude pump on my wardrobe wish list for the year and I've yet to find one so I tho…

Sephora Play The Iconic Edition

In addition to my regular Play box this month I also received a special edition box exclusively available to Rouge VIB members for $20
This bag features six high end iconic beauty items and a style book. I got it mostly out of curiosity to try the products inside. Here's what's included: La Mer - The Moisturizing Soft Cream $170
This is one of the most famous (and expensive) skin creams in the world. It certainly smells nice and makes the skin feel soft and smooth. For the price point though I'd have to give the full sample jar a try to make a decision because $170 per ounce is a lot of money and I do like the moisturizer I use currently.
Guerlain Radiance Face Primer $74
Ok, so here's where I have a problem with this product - if I'm using an expensive moisturizer to give me "natural radiance" than why do I need a $74 primer to give me radiance? This goes on very smooth and does give a nice soft radiance but I feel like there are other products out there…
