It's neat to be Elite

Almost a year ago I posted about Yelp and how excited I was to join the elite squad. Since that time I've had a lot of fun, written 100 more reviews, made new friends and have been renewed to the elite squad for another year. So, I thought now that I have some more experience y'all might like to know some more about why I yelp, and why you should too.
For the record, this is very unofficial and only reflects my personal opinions.

Yelp can be a very controversial topic. I know business owners who hate and business owners who love it. Businesses have been slammed with bad reviews when one bad customer experience goes viral and sadly there are a tiny group people out there that will be paid to write a good review. I promise y'all, I have never received a penny or comped meal in exchange for a review and while I do have a few negative reviews out there it's less than 10% of my yelp activity. So why did I want to be elite you might wonder? I'll admit it - the lure of th…

Pour Some Sugar on Me

One thing I'm really into these days is homemade products. Is there anything less fun to spend money on than shower cleaner? Me thinks not. I'm so tired of running to target for basic household supplies and walking out with an $80 bill and for what, a bunch of crap I can't even pronounce mixed in a plastic bottle. Nope, it's time to shop smarter. So far this year I've made our own laundry detergent and bathroom cleaner, both have been fab but I want to make fun stuff too and cleaning my toilet just doesn't get me excited. So I decided to make a product that I seem to run through frequently: sugar scrub!
Sugar scrub , btw, is kinda hard to find. Target only sells one expensive version of it with their "fancy" beauty products and WalMart offers two different scents for about $7 for 8oz. It's winter, I get dry skin y'all, I NEED my scrub. My big problem with commercial scrubs is they have too much oil, I want to feel clean coming out of the showe…

Fashion Find Friday: Prep Obsessed

New Year, new post, same theme. It's Fashion Find Friday y'all! Due to the holiday season I wasn't doing much self gifting and obviously I couldn't share what I was getting for others but here's a look at my first self treat of 2015.
This week's goodies come from a fab company, Prep Obsessed. Officially Prep Obsessed is a web based fashion retailer offering weekly limited quantity sales on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. But I like to think of it as seeing your bestie wearing something cute and then bam! now you have one too. During the holidays Prep Obsessed offered mystery mailers of past products, a small included 4 items and a large included 8. It was so popular they did it again in January and I wasted no time signing up. I paid $29.95 for 8 mystery items shipped to my door, plus a $5 gift card for a future purchase.
First off, let me just say how much I appreciate the careful packaging the Prep Obsessed ladies offer:

Within the bubble wrap each item …

Living the Lilly Pulitzer Dream

Yesterday I was wrapping up a report at the office and got this text from my sister:

And basically, I was like this :

BTW, Target need to bring back the crazy lady Black Friday commercials, she's my spirit animal; I even have a giant pearl necklace just like hers.
Y'all know MandySue loves Target collaborations, and you certainly know my love for Lilly Pulitzer. So this is basically a dream come true. I'm not a regular on Instagram but it looked like that's where most of the news was being posted, so the rest of my night was spent insta-stalking and discussing the 411 in some lilly Facebook groups . For those of you not obsessed with every detail like me here's some basic info:
What: 250 items in Ladies and kids clothing and accessories, beauty and home goods including beach / patio items.  When: April 19th  Where: target stores nationwide and online  How much: $2 to $150 with 200 items under $30!  Why: IT'S LILLY!!!!!
Based on the pictures I've seen from the sw…

It all started with juice

One of my favorite things about the New Year is that it always brings hope. Hope that THIS might be the year for whatever you are wishing for. The new year can also be very blah: little sunshine, cold temps, returns to five day work weeks and post holiday credit card bills. It also seems that most women I know from size 2 to 22 seem to enter the new year with a little bit more of them. With holiday parties galore, family gatherings, and an tendency towards indoor activities its hardly shocking, which is perhaps why cleansing is such a popular new year activity. Last year I ate raw food the first week of the year and while I got back onto my old habits within a few weeks I remember how good it felt after. At this new year I could let my past failures continue to define me or I could take a big serving of that new year hope. This year, I choose hope.
So with a good big or go home approach I decided to juice cleanse for 3 to 5 days, depending upon how hungry I got.

Call me a cheat, bu…

Carriage House Afternoon Tea

I started 2015 feeling a little blah thanks to all the funky weather we've had on Memphis so I decided to take a four day weekend at the new year to start it off right. With our long weekend Shaun and I headed to my dad's in Jackson with the girls for some relaxing time. Since my dad worked Friday Shaun and I were on our own and I was thrilled to discover a place with tea service in the area on Yelp.
Located inside an antique mall the carriage house cafe was a nice little spot to enjoy the afternoon. I mean, look at the charming ambience

This is clearly a ladies who lunch spot but there were a few men in the cafe as well.
We started off with a pot of peppermint tea. According to our waitress very few people order hot tea here, smh!

I loved getting vintage tea cups and a pot to drink our tea in, I really liked the pot but am not in a space position right now to add to my teapot collection.
For food there was a variety of salads, sandwiches and crepes that all sounded super yumm…
