Doll Face

As a kid I LOVED dolls. I had a ton of barbies and a ridiculous amount of clothing for them. But it wasn't just barbies, I love any type of doll. I even had an extensive porcelain doll collection that my grandmother created (don't hate, it was the 80s and it was a thing). I also had a few vintage dolls from when my mom was a kid.

Words cannot describe how much I love this "little kiddle" brooch.

And Dawn and Angie dolls had excellent 70s outfits

So it was no surprise when few months ago I saw the most adorable doll necklace on the Kate Spade website and was drawn to it. Read about it here:

And white it's beautiful I have to say oh no to the over $400 price tag. So, I headed to etsy to see if I could find a similar but more affordable product. And although there were many similar necklaces I found myself drawn to the style of a particular shop out of Spain. For months I kept the shop as my favorites, my problem was I just couldn't decide - they are all so cute! Finally I decided I had wanted one long enough and decided just to pick one and make a purchase. And last weekend it was finally here!

I love when sellers wrap things, it's a little self gift after all.

Here's the doll I selected:

Wearing the necklace to give an idea of size.

It's hard to show in a pic but this is very well made and the detailing is quite nice. While I love my necklace I have doubts already that I played it safe and maybe I should have gotten a "louder" doll.

Do you see now how I had so much trouble? In addition to necklaces there are brooches too and I have a feeling eventually I will get one of those too.

Here's the shop to check out all the beautiful designs.

Sadly, the little kiddles, Dawn and Angie got lost over the years and I couldn't find them at my Mom's house. Eventually I'd like to buy replacements off eBay to show my future kids but right now I just can't justify the purchase, plus I don't trust myself not to loose them again.

10 Year Challenge

Earlier this week I shared an image encouraging people to think about their accomplishments over the past ten years rather than how their looks have changed and listed all the positive things that have happened in my own life. It's not that I mind sharing pics of what I looked like 10 years ago but just sharing a picture doesn't tell the whole story. I had a lot of people respond congratulating me on my accomplishments and while I appreciate that it made me realize my intention was never to brag or say oh, look how great my life has been because the past ten years have been years of struggle and success.
Here you see a girl who thinks she's the life of the party - she's 24 and has practically no responsibilities but I don't envy her or wish I could return to that lifestyle.
Meanwhile, you look at this 34 year old woman and you see she's changed the way she treats her hair, she has some lines around the eyes and roundness to her face that wasn't there befo…

Hello Kitty Tea

A few months ago I was scrolling on instagram and I saw some posts about a place called The Hello Kitty Grand Café. Now I had stopped by the Hello Kitty Café food truck when it rolled through Memphis (check out my post on that here) but this looked to be taking the experience to the next level. After digging into it I discovered that The Hello Kitty Grand Café was not far from my in-law’s home in Southern California and lucky for me we had trip already planned. The Hello Kitty Grand Café operates with several functions – the front section of the location operates just like the food truck with a menu of sweets and drinks, anyone can walk in for counter service and there are a few tables in addition to some photo spots available. In the back is The Bow Room which offers a pre-fixe tea menu during the day and turns into a cocktail lounge in the evenings. Reservations are currently taken through Yelp and open up 30 days in advance- while weekend reservations can be hard to come by its a l…

Timeless Style of a Natural Stone Watch

Hello Friends! I hope 2018 wrapped up nicely for you and you're watching out for opportunities in the new year. I love gifting to others but let's be real - I also love treating myself which is why I'm so excited to be wearing a new watch into the new year! Plus- it's perfect for my New Year's resolution to be on time more in 2019. Don't worry - I have a treat for you too at the end of this post.

Last year I received a beautiful wooden watch (which I still love BTW) but there have been times when I 've  wanted something a little more elegant on my wrist. The folks at Jord must have been reading my mind because they just released the new Sier Arcadia collection featuring interchangeable leather and mesh bands and natural stone faces. Each style is truly beautiful but I was drawn to the Sodalite and Gold style because it's unique from any watch I've seen. I tend to wear a lot of blues so this unique style really compliments my wardrobe. The only oth…

Go WILD, Y'all

I'm writing this post with a serious case of the Mondays as I'm recovering from Go Wild this past week. Go Wild is the annual conference run by the Wild for Planners group and it is so much fun! This year's conference was in Nashville and while there is was announced that 2018 will be in Austin, TX. In addition to bringing planner enthusiasts together this event also presents the opportunity to hear from great speakers, meet planner  / planner goodies suppliers and the part that people to notice the most - awesome swag.   I first found out about the group last year when some planner girls I followed posted on instagram about the conference. To an outsider it looks like oh fun, planner girls gathering and getting tons of swag - I want to go! But the reality is it's so much for than that and to be perfectly honest if you're only interested in the swag you'd be better off staying home and going on a shopping spree. Since everyone wants to know the most though wha…

Birthday Discounts

Woohoo! It's my birthday week y'all! Birthdays are always a great time for brands to make customers special and each year I'm able to take advantage of some pretty good discounts in July so I thought I would share the love and talk about some of my favorite discounts and how to get them.

My absolute favorite discount is from Kendra Scott! During your birthday month you can receive one regular item at 50% off. It's your first time you'll have to show your id in store and sign up for their email list but then once they have you on file you can just go into the store and say that you would like to apply your birthday discount to your purchase and give your email address. This year I purchased the Tatiana Long Pendant Necklace which usually sells for $175. This necklace takes the look of the popular Rayne necklace and really amps it up.
If jewelry is your thing you can also get a $10 credit from Charming Charlie - this discount is sent to Charm Rewards members at the…
