12 Days of Oily Goodness

December - a time for merriment, a time for generosity, a time for worship . . . But also a time for getting ready for New Years resolutions.

One of my biggest resolutions for 2015 was to get my health in check. Although I wish it was reflected on my waistline I feel like this was something I really made big strides towards this year and one way I have done this has been by going natural. But, 2015 has been an AWFUL year for organization. So after thanksgiving I was going through my essential oil collection scattered about my house and thinking of a solution and when I got them all together I realized that thanks to earning freebies throughout the year I have a nice little stash of unopened dupliates. Hmm, what to do?

Well, I really truly am grateful and passionate about the way essential oils have blessed my life and so I figured what better way to take advantage of this excess than to share the love. So this month I'll be hosting 12 days of oily giveaways! Participation will be simple: each day I will post the giveaway for the day and link a short (seriously, under 5 minutes each) video. Just watch the video, comment on the post and watch a winner selected daily. I've already got the prizes packed up and just need a winner's addresses to send them to!

You can win multiple days so don't feel like you have to hold out on participating, here's the items I'll be giving away:

1. 4oz of Thieves Cleaner concentrate
2. Orange Blosson foaming facial wash
3. Cinnamint Lip Balm
4. Orange Oil
5. Tangerine Oil
6. Lemon Oil
7. Citrus Fresh Oil Blend
8. Grapefruit Oil
9. Beauty Serum Roll-On
10. Jasmin Perfume Roll-On
11. Beauty Sleep Blend Rolll-On (contains peace and calming oil)
12. Lavender Oil

I hope that if you've been skeptical about oils you'll watch a video or two and try one for free but also welch my existing oily friends to participate.

Happy Oiling Y'all!

Sweater Weather

Although I could do without the snow and single digit temps I do love winter because a lot of my favorite clothes are winter clothes. There's something about a cozy sweater that makes me feel good so of course I'm loving the current trend of statement sleeve sweaters.

With trends I really have to be careful to control myself, especially with these because it's a style I REALLY like. Without the little voice in my head reminding me that I do not need a closet of practically identical pieces I would own several of the tiered sleeve sweaters, thank goodness for that voice! For the tiered sleeve look I went with black because it's versatile and since this is such a trendy piece and there's no guarantee this will be in style come next winter I wanted something I would get a lot of wear out of this season. Likewise when buying a bell sleeve cardigan I wanted something I could wear throughout winter and possibly into spring - this sweater with jeans and a comfy tee unde…

2018 Wardrobe Goals

New Year, New Wardrobe . . .just kidding! If you offered to buy me a new wardrobe this time last year I would have been all over it but this year I would politely decline because there's too many items I wouldn't want to part with. I know I've made several posts here about my "closet project" and I'm sorry if I sound dramatic about it but y'all I am just so proud of myself.
Sketch of my favorite outfit of 2017 Full confession here: I am a shopaholic - I literally get an endorphin rush when I buy something I like and can spin into a depression episode if I really want something and can't buy it. Over the years I have realized how not only unhealthy this behavior is but how my frequent shopping was holding me back from other areas in my life and last year I decided to stop the cycle. It was hard, there were times when I was moody for days over not buying something or I obsessively looked at something I wanted online every single day counting down unti…

Gratitude Challenge

So this month I was all set to do the whole gratitude challenge thing  but as I started to think of what things I might post about I started to think maybe this isn't the best idea. Is it possible to do a gratitude challenge and come up with 30 unique expressions of gratitude without humble bragging? My day to day life is pretty boring and we don't have cute kids that provide a constant supply of little daily antidotes to be grateful about and I know that this isn't about picking up 30 material possessions  in my life and posting about them. But even when I look past the "stuff" in my life and more behind emotional and non tangible things it still just doesn't feel right - does the friend with the sick kid really need my post about how #blessed I am with good health popping up in her feed? I think not.
Maybe I'm being Debbie downer on what's supposed to be a lighthearted and fun social media engagement but I just can't get my heart into it becau…

Thanksgiving Essentials

Next week is Thanksgiving and I am soooo excited! Thanksgiving is basically all of my favorite things in one day - chilling in pjs watching the parade, delicious food, family time, and shopping! For the past few years we have gone our for Thanksgiving because the condo was not wheelchair friendly for my grandmother and my dad moved out of town but this year we're going back to having Thanksgiving at home and while I'm sad we won't have my grandma this year I am excited to be cooking the Thanksgiving meal again. In my humble opinion Thanksgiving is no time for healthy eating and since everyone has their own favorites I say bring on the carbs - this is what my menu this year will be: 1. Champagne Turkey 2. Stuffing 3. Green Bean Casserole 4. Sweet Potato Casserole 5. Mashed Potatoes 6. Peas 7. Corn Soufflé 8. Broccoli 9. Pillsbury Crescent Rolls 10. Cranberry sauce (from the can of course, I hate it but my family tells me this is the only way to have it) 11. Pie 12. Ma…

Shelby Jewel

I really wanted to have this post up yesterday but if you've been following my instagram stories at all you will have seen that I remembered this weekend that I still needed to refinish my dining room table if I had any hopes of using it for Thanksgiving (and yes, I am on track to finish it tonight, Woohoo!) So here I am a day late but not a dollar short with a post on some fun fashion finds. Last week I attended the preview party for a new online boutique started by Memphis Blogger Shelby Jewel. Shelby has beautiful taste so I knew I was interested in checking out her boutique. Nothing says welcome like a glass of Champagne! Racks of beautiful tops Swoon worthy Jackets Pretty Tassel Earrings So, I'll admit I was very nervous about this event, Shelby is very small and most boutique sizes are small as well - I am not. But, I really wanted to see the pretty things and thought hey, you never know. As I predicted clothing is available in S - L but I have found that with some bou…
