Marimekko for Target

This Over the weekend Target released their latest designer collaboration, Finnish designer Marimekko. I love Target designer collaborations in general and was excited to grab a few of the whimsical pieces from a brand I had never heard of.

I heard a good quote from one of the target execs regarding this collaboration compared to last year's big Lilly Pulitzer collaboration - the Lilly collection was a fashion collaboration with some home pieces but the Marimekko collaboration is all about home items with a few fashion pieces. Indeed, there were more prints in the non apparel items which on one hand was disappointing but on the other did make it easier to focus my spending as I did not set aside the solid amount of funds to shop with like I did last year. Since plus sizes are online only and collaborations tend to sell out online I decided to stay up for the early morning launch - plus I've been having problems sleeping lately.

Memphis Fashion Week

Yes, that's right little ole Memphis is cool enough for its own fashion week and this year I finally had the chance to go.
This year fashion week consists of two shopping events, one VIP party and two fashion shows. Being my first year attending I wasn't quite ready to jump in and purchase VIP tickets to the entire week but did grab a general admission ticket for the Friday night featured designer show. General admission tickets are $50 and include seating on a first come, first serve basis and beer and wine.
The year's featured designer show was held at The Cadre building downtown. Check in was easy and then my friend Ryan and I posed for a pic by the entrance

Also near the entrance the people at Kendra Scott we're hosting a jewelry pull. Items were boxed up and a $50 donation to the Memphis fashion fund allowed participants to select a box which  contained an item up with a retail value between $50 and $195. Since all of the jewelry has a classic look and there isn&#…

Kendra Scott Color Bar Experience

A few weeks ago I was at an event and a friend was wearing the most lovely tassel necklace. I don’t know why but I am pretty much a sucker for tassel anything so obviously I was interested and she was kind enough to inform me that it was from the Kendra Scott color bar. I’ll admit, when it first hit the scene I thought the concept was ridiculous - costume jewelry earrings for $60 . . . no thanks. But the reality is that there are plenty of brand that sell costume jewelry at this price point such as Kate Spade and Stella and Dot and while they are not something I purchase every week I do purchase them and have been pleased with the quality and versatility of the pieces. Plus let’s face it, I like pretty things. Needing a gift for my mother in law seemed like the perfect reason to stop in and check out the recently opened Kendra Scott store just a few miles from my home.
The store was very bright and everything displayed nicely, and there was plenty of friendly staff on hand to offer as…
