February 2017 Beauty Favorites

I haven't true any big beauty items lately worthy of their own post but there have been a few beauty items to become staples for me that I do think are worthy of sharing.

First off, lips. It seems like everyone and their mother is selling lip sense as the newest and greatest MLM and while there's nothing wrong with a home based business I just don't like a glossy lip. Plus, the price point is outrageous IMO - fifty something dollars for a lipstick and gloss , nope. I do however love the idea of a long lasting lipstick so lately I'm loving the Sephora collection lip stain. I received a sample in a shade of red in my December Play Box and knew I needed other colors. I picked up this pretty neutral while I was in for my most recent makeover. These lips stains are $14 which is w price point I am much more comfortable with. And yes, there was some wearing off but my lips still had plenty of color after six cups of tea.

For my face I'm really into the Clark's Botanicals Marine Cream latley - so much so that I prefer it over moisturizers I could earn Sephora points with and at $115 for 1.7 oz that's saying A LOT, (you can sometimes find it on different websites for less - the best non eBay price I have seen is $90) I received this in my very first IPSY bag and have been obsessed ever since. It's lightweight, has a pleasant but light scent, and contains glycolic acid for light exfoliation. I find it stings a little if I put it on my freshly exfoliated face but that goes away quickly. I use this moisturizer night and day currently but as we head into spring I will need to switch to a daytime moisturizer with SPF.

For my nails I'm currently loving Trust Fund Beauty. Ignoring the fact that the color names are hilarious I love the colors offered but more importantly the coverage - streaky nail polish is the worst. Plus, the brush is a good quality making for easy application, usually I make a mess on my fingers when doing my nails but not with this brush. This brand was another fabulous Ipsy introduction and another item I purchase even though it doesn't help me on my Rouge VIB quest. This is champagne socialite, it's a little more rose gold in person.

So there you have it, my current beauty faves. Maybe I'll have so new ones in my ipsy and Sephora play bags - which should be coming soon!

Sephora Play April 2017

This month's Sephora Play box featured some of the top selling Sephora products, here's what's inside:

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
I currently use this primer and it helps my foundation go on smooth and keeps my face from getting too oily during the day. It's light weight and has no scent and one tube lasts a really long time - I bought mine before my wedding and that was six months ago.

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL eyeliner
The Make Up For Ever brand is very popular at Sephora and very nice quality products. This eyeliner doesn't smudge and goes on smooth.

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream
This is a primer / moisturizer combo and I really like the way it feels - very light weight and makes my skin feel silky

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate
This says it's an "intense exfoliator" but I found it to be very fine. The paste is ather think and a yucky green color with a heavy plant scent, but hey if it works who cares what it looks like.

Memphis Fashion Week 2017 Emerging Designers

The last night of Memphis Fashion Week is the favorite night for many local fashionistas because it shows off what is up and coming in our city. Once again I was able to grab a great seat and see the pieces up close.

First up for the evening was two time previous winner Tiena. I think it's easy to see why she's won twice before - just wow on these beautiful designs!

I love the model's expression here - it's like she just loves wearing this so much she can't contain it.

I love all of it but the yellow ruffle dress has to be my favorite, it's not a color I would typically be drawn to but there's something so nice about it!
Next up was the teen collection, these pieces were designed by beautiful young ladies all under 20. Once again, I am a complete and total life slacker. Seriously - I was blown away by how talented these girls are:

Mommy Lhey Little Bits Box April 2017

Yesterday my 2nd Little Bits Box arrived and I am so in love! One thing I think is really great about this subscription is that there's the option to pre-order a month at a time (it's $5 more than subscribing) and there's any option to cancel without having to give two month's notice - this is great if a particular month's theme just isn't for you or life happens and you need to take a break. The April theme is "Believe in Magic" and features whimsical creatures such as fairies and unicorns. Let's take a look inside: I know that's a lot to look at so I'll break down the items for you. First up is the sticker sheets - each box comes with eight sheets and they are very high quality stickers and able to be used in a variety of planners:
I can't imagine this will be any every month item but in March we received pocket size travelers notebooks and this month we received personal size. These notebooks are so cute and I love the matching …

Memphis Fashion Week 2017 Emerging Designers Part 2

Happy Monday! Today I have my last MFW coverage post to share with y'all featuring the singles and mini collections.

The singles collection features designers who have made one or two pieces each , this collection was fun because it was cool to see a variety of different styles. Who knew Memphis had so many designers?

Memphis Fashion Week 2017 Kickoff Event

Last night Memphis Fashion Week started with a kickoff event at The Lab. MFW is run by Memphis Fashion Design Network and The Lab is the office / creative space for Memphis designers. Read more about it here . The Kickoff Party featured products from designers participating in this week's event and offered fashionistas the opportunity to meet the designers and shop their wares. Although there were many beautiful pieces on hand I decided to wait on purchases but did go home and follow some of the favorites I saw on social media so I can keep up with them for the future. I've been setting aside most of my fashion money for the past two months to shop the Victoria Beckham collection at Target that's being released on Sunday - it's a big week for fashion! Some of my favorite fashions from the event: Tiena Gwin  Sheila J Designs This dress is reversible - how fun!  Beg and Borrow
Accessories I loved but didn't get a chance to photograph were Brave Design, a local jewelry d…
