Kate Spade Activity Tracker

Whether you know me in real life or just follow me on social media you should have picked up on the fact that I love the Kate Spade brand. So last fall when Kate Spade announced a line of activity trackers I was in. In fact, I love my tracker so much that when I lost it I bought the exact same one.

I got one of the early generation fit bits and overall liked it but I had two main challenges with it- it's not attractive and I hated having to charge it / loose it for periods of time due to having to take it apart to charge - right now I think it's in the pocket of a purse I haven't used in a while - emphasis on I think that's where it is. This is really silly but I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to me for products I use to be functional but attractive - I like my kitchen gadgets to all coordinate, I only drink from "cute" tumblers and I'm a sucker for any functional but cute product so the Kate Spade design is a big winner for me.

Sometimes I wear it like a watch, and sometimes since the buckle is so darn cute I flip it around (especially if I'm wearing an actual watch or other bracelets) and it looks like a thin bracelet.

From a functionality standpoint the Kate Spade tracker is similar to the basic fit bit model. The biggest difference is that the tracker is powered by a replaceable watch battery and does not require regular charging.

The tracker syncs with the Kate Spade tracker app which tracks steps and sleep showing daily totals, daily patterns and patterns overtime. It also allows the user to log a fitness goal - such as water consumption, and count down to milestones.

Step Tracking

To see how you're tracking throughout the day just tap the face twice and the light will blink one to five times to indicate which percentage of the goal has been accomplished.

The tracker can also be set-up to function as a phone command but sadly only one command can be active at a time - I have mine linked to the camera.

What the tracker does not do is allows the tracking of multiple goals, track weigh-loss, track heartbeat, sync with apps like my fitness pal, have a food log, or the biggest miss to me - have an alarm function. For me personally I liked these features in the fit bit (minus heart rate, that's not available in the base version) but the charging situation just made it too inconvenient for me - if the Kate Spade tracker app was enhanced to allow me to log more fitness related items and the alarm feature was added to a future model it would be the most perfect activity tracker in the world. But for the price point it's the one that fits my lifestyle the best.

Apparently my opinion is not in the majority because they hit the sale rack only a few months after being released and so when I scooped up my replacement tracker I bought an extra for a friend but turns out it doesn't fit her needs. So, I've decided to gift it to another friend. Just follow me on instagram  - instagram.com/memphismandysue because at some point this week I will be giving away a new in box tracker identical to mine.

PS: If you are impatient or just want to be guaranteed to have one I did see them in other styles at Marshalls for $34.99 (the one on Winchester for you Memphis fashionistas)

This is Us

Y’all this year I was so excited for our anniversary activity - the 2nd anniversary traditional gift is cotton and there was a cotton field nearby. The website said “mid October” would be the perfect time for pictures so I booked a session for our anniversary weekend on the 21st. We stop by the field the day before to check it out and it was all gone. Even though no harvest date was listed on the website a week earlier it had since been updated that the cotton was harvested that Friday – seriously, they couldn’t have given one more weekend for photos, grr! All the other cotton fields were too far away so I cried how our anniversary was ruined. We wound up moving photos to the same spot where we took our wedding photos and brought along the dogs to get our family Christmas card photo. This session did not go as well as I would have liked – Because I didn’t plan to originally have the dogs sweetie was not freshly groomed. My brand new sweater got snagged by one of the dogs getting in and…

Wardrobe Wednesday - What I wore to Memphis Fashion Week

I must admit I'm pretty proud of the outfits I put together for Memphis Fashion Week so I figured they deserved a blog post of their own. I definitely feel like spending four day around fashion and really trying to put my most stylish foot forward set me on track to up my fashion game this year, plus the VBxTarget collection released right after so that helped too (I'll have a post on that soon). Overall though these four outfits were a good example of mixing what I already owned with new and restyling some existing pieces in new ways.
Earrings: Kate Spade - these are out but there's always cute ones on sale Necklace: Anthropologie (this is from 2013) Top: Nicole by Nicole Miller
To start of the events I wore my most casual outfit to the kickoff event. I was under the mis-impression that Nicole Miller (the headliner designer for MFW 2017) would be there so I wore a Nicole by Nicole Miller top. It's actually off the shoulders but got pulled up a little from me razing m…

Hostess with the Mostess

One of my favorite things is to entertain. Since moving last summer we have hosted some kind of event at least once a month and while we keep talking about slowing down it doesn't look like we'll stop anytime soon. Party hosting can be a lot of fun but it can also be exhausting, especially if you aren't prepared, so I've pulled together my "best practices" so you can learn from my mistakes and make your next gathering a little less stressful. The first step of course is to determine what kind of gathering you'll be hosting - we've hosted everything from Thanksgiving dinner with all the fancy crystal and china to a casual come on over for burgers on the grill but I think my favorite event that we've hosted so far has been a baby shower for our sweet friends.

Once you know what kind of event you're hosting think about the guest list and how you'll invite everyone - for just a gathering of our friends we use facebook but if you want to be …
