Mommy Lhey Little Bits Box April 2017

Yesterday my 2nd Little Bits Box arrived and I am so in love!

One thing I think is really great about this subscription is that there's the option to pre-order a month at a time (it's $5 more than subscribing) and there's any option to cancel without having to give two month's notice - this is great if a particular month's theme just isn't for you or life happens and you need to take a break.

The April theme is "Believe in Magic" and features whimsical creatures such as fairies and unicorns. Let's take a look inside:

I know that's a lot to look at so I'll break down the items for you. First up is the sticker sheets - each box comes with eight sheets and they are very high quality stickers and able to be used in a variety of planners:

I can't imagine this will be any every month item but in March we received pocket size travelers notebooks and this month we received personal size. These notebooks are so cute and I love the matching ruler, as a bonus they come pre filled with the inserts so they're ready to use. Plus it's my favorite color!

Some of the "little bits" in the box: die cuts. cupcake clip, stamps. hot air balloon charm, washi and journaling cards.

Here's a look at the various die cuts, I will be laminating some and using as planner clips or planner charms. I'm so in love with the fairy.

Also in the box is a stencil set and puffy stickers. Next month I'll do a better job capturing the stencils.

AND there's also a unicorn pen pouch, sequins for making shakers and a jewel pen.

Not photographed but in the box were three double sided printed paper. Additionally there is a link for digital downloads - I LOVE and appreciate that Mommy Lhey does this so much so I think when planner subscriptions come with so many beautiful items people hate to use them and just hoard the stuff - knowing that I can reprint some prints as needed makes it easier to actually use what's in the box. Plus let's be real - this stuff is too cute to just be tucked away.

Pre-orders for June will start May 1st and go through the 18th. Next month's theme has already been announced to be 'Wild and Free" and although Boho isn't usually my thing I really like Mommy Lhey's take on it from the sneak peaks she has shared. I highly recommend this kit and giving it a try.

Sensible Portions

I'm Sometimes you have to recognize your strengths and when it's time to outsource . For me a healthy lifestyle is not a strength. I love the idea of eating small healthy meals and working out everyday but then I get hangry and eat anything in sight. Or I have a busy weekend and don't have time to meal prep, and then I'm screwed for the week and one bad week turns into a bad month, and a bad year and a decade of gaining weight. So, when a sorority sister posted a meal plan she had found success with I was very interested. Shaun and I tried a similar program last year but it was very expensive ($170 for one person for 5 days) That's a great investment if you need to lose 10 or 20 lbs but when you have a lot to lose you need a long term plan that is viable from a time, nutrition and financial aspect.
Long term it's still pricey but I was very impressed with the value and results of sensible portions and decided to give it a try. Like most meal plans the plan is …

Vi Peel

2018 Update: Hello Internet! Welcome to my most popular blog post - I presume you're here because you're considering getting a facial peel. Please keep in mind this is an old post and my photo quality is not great. Please feel free to read and enjoy but I do want to let you know that as the years have passed I have taken a more proactive approach with my skin care and I do not get frequent peels. If you'd like to see my modern approach to skincare check out some of my other beauty posts and I'd love for you to connect with me on Instagram to keep up with my latest and greatest recommendations.

Hello! So I got my first Vi Peel which I was super excited about. Since the Botox post was popular I figure y'all would like this too. Besides, it's well established I'm beyond any sense of privacy or shame here.
I got my first peel years ago - a mild Glycolic peel added onto my fac…

A new Mrs Box for a new ring

When I got engaged in 2015 I saw the most beautiful ring box on instagram and I had to have one. The Mrs Box is a handmade, velvet vintage style ring box perfectly for not only keeping your ring safe when you're not wearing it but also let's be real - looking pretty. Since my original purchase from The Mrs Box they have expanded the collection - my original box is the classic petite which at the time was the only box offered; there is now a larger square and a beveled shape and both have options to hold one or two rings. So when I found myself getting a new ring it only seemed right that my new ring deserved a new box. (You can see my original ring and box here)

The Mrs Box has so many gorgeous choices to be honest I just couldn't decided so I left the options up to you, my wonderful readers! Y'all felt pretty strongly that I should get the double box to hold both my engagement ring and wedding band and love the beveled shape. I had narrowed it down to pink or turquoi…

The Mrs Box

Happy birthday to me! I'm pretty awful about picking my own gifts and this year was no exception because my fiancé would have NEVER bought me what I wanted on his own - The Mrs Box.

The Mrs Box is a tiny, handmade, vintage velvet ring box. Here it is next to a standard size ring box:

When I receive mine I did and unboxing and discussed what makes this such a special item, check it out:

I can't wait to see how our photographer uses it in the detail pictures!

Birthday Discounts

Woohoo! It's my birthday week y'all! Birthdays are always a great time for brands to make customers special and each year I'm able to take advantage of some pretty good discounts in July so I thought I would share the love and talk about some of my favorite discounts and how to get them.

My absolute favorite discount is from Kendra Scott! During your birthday month you can receive one regular item at 50% off. It's your first time you'll have to show your id in store and sign up for their email list but then once they have you on file you can just go into the store and say that you would like to apply your birthday discount to your purchase and give your email address. This year I purchased the Tatiana Long Pendant Necklace which usually sells for $175. This necklace takes the look of the popular Rayne necklace and really amps it up.
If jewelry is your thing you can also get a $10 credit from Charming Charlie - this discount is sent to Charm Rewards members at the…
