Planner Reviews and Comparrisons

A lot of planners on the market start their year in July so now is a good time to be looking for a new planner. Today I have four different planners to review and compare.

The Day Designer for Blue Sky
The Planner Price $14.99 (the one I have linked is the 2017 model but the 2017/ 2018 can be found in stores at Target). This is a smaller, less deluxe version of the traditional day designer which sells for $59  Monthly Layout Weekly Layout This is a great little planner if you are looking for something to carry on a daily basis and don't need multiple boxes or too much space to write in each day. Although some small functional stickers and thin washi could work I would say this planner does not lend itself to decorative planning - but hey, that's not everyone's thing. For me personally this planner is too small and not sturdy enough to be my primary planner but I have been thinking a lot lately about planning my blog posts more in advance and having a space for brainstormin…

Prep Obsessed Mermaid Mystery Mailer

Ugh, the only thing I dislike about vacation is how I tend to lose track of time. I had all these great plans of catching up on blogging but here I am with my first post of the week on Thursday - opps! Better late than never I guess. Today I have a super cute mystery mailer from the girls at Prep Obsessed to share with you - the Mermaid Mailer! I LOVE Mystery Mailers from Prep Obsessed but this one might be my favorite yet. Each mailer is $39.99 and includes one tee, one canvas tote, two jewelry items, one drink hugger, and one surprise items all with a mermaid theme. Each mailer will contain different items but here's what I got in mine to show an example of the quality and value: I'm Really a Mermaid tee OMG, this tee is so soft, it's my fifth of this style from Prep Obsessed and I will keep buying mailers that contain them. Every mailer's screen print will be the same but the colors vary - I was very happy to receive this pretty teal. This shirt is also available …

Ipsy Glam Bag May 2017

Happy Friday Y'all! Today It's back to back beauty subscriptions because my Ipsy glam bag arrived yesterday. This month Ipsy also sent a plastic bag and although the print is not my favorite it's certainly seasonally appropriate and perfect for keeping stuff dry at the beach or pool this summer.
Here's what's inside: Ipsy gives subscribers points for reviewing products and referring friends so this month I was abler to cash in points for the Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup to go Liquid Compact $25 - I was pretty impressed to receive a full size compact. I really like the idea of having a liquid foundation in a compact form and this is the first I have seen this. The formula offers a light coverage but gives the dewy complexion look Luxie Beauty Precision Foundation Brush $18 This brush is very soft and I love the rose gold metal. I've learned from my custom makeovers at Sephora that applying foundation with a brush is the way to go so I was very pleased to re…

Sephora Play May 2017

With all that's been going on lately I completely missed the email notification that Sephora Play had shipped so I was pleasantly surprised to come home to my May box last night. This month the folks at Sephora decided to mix it up and offer something different from the drawstring bag, I hope it continues because I LOVE this pouch and I could think of a lot of ways I could use more of these while I usually wind up tossing the drawstring bags.
Here's a look at what's inside:
This month's box is focused on beauty products on the rise. Here's what I received this month: Nudestix - Magnetic Matte Lip Color $24 I will say the staying power is impressive - I swatched this on my hand last night and the swatch was still perfectly intact this morning. However, the color is awful - it's a brown and looked to goth for my taste when I put it on my lips. I hated the color so much I'll be tossing this sample so I don't ever accidently wear it. This product comes i…

Saying Goodbye

If we're friends on Facebook than you might have picked up on why I didn't blog last week - my grandmother passed away last Wednesday. I know I said I want to keep this blog focused on specific topics and less emotional one but the reality is I write it and while I have a whole list of topics I had planned on blogging last week and this week I feel like it's just not right. I still have a few "personal" posts up - my one about being motherless and childless had some readership over the past week being that Sunday was Mother's Day - and today I'm going to add one more personal post. As y'all know my husband and I are moving in June and I'm so glad that on our last "social" day together (we saw her several days in the hospital before she passed) we got to show my Grandma our new house. Our current condo isn't very wheelchair friendly so for the past few years we have been going out to eat on holidays and we were really excited to hos…

$40 Date - Lantern Light Festival

If you live in Memphis and drive a car than I'm sure you've heard the advertisements for the Lantern Light Festival. Always on the prowl for different date nights I secured tickets for Shaun and I to go the first weekend they were open but sadly I'm just now getting around to sharing. We got ours on groupon for $15 each which left us money for food to keep this a $40 date but tickets are currently $20 each and the festival is in town through May 21st.

The lanterns are actually large figures made out of silk with lights inside providing the illumination.

The 400 ft dragon

Dater night selfie When we first entered I was a little disappointed because it didn't seem like much but once we followed the dragon we found a section tucked away from the parking area where all of the lanterns were displayed. Overview of the lantern area
Memphis display
lots of opportunities for cheesy photo ops
this tunnel represented all the seasons, I think I'm in fall in …

Date Box - Sushi Making

Happy Monday friends! Let's start the week with something exciting - A GIVEAWAY! Y'all know I love subscription boxes and the most fun of the ones I receive is Date Box. Date Box puts together a fun date night idea and sends all the supplies right to our door. Confession - I have a stack of four boxes we haven't used. Honestly - space has been an issue but all of that will change soon as we move ot our new house. AND, since we'll be focusing on furnishing our home having a back log of boxes (ie dates without spending money) will be really nice. This month the folks at Date Box included a gift card for a free box to giveaway so checkout my instagram to enter.   But first, let me show you our most recent box:
This month's date is a sushi making night and includes the materials needed to make the sushi and a shopping list for the fresh ingredients. One thing I really like about Date Box is that it gives you great ideas that you could repeat by using the included too…

Monobox April 2017

Oh y'all - I've been so neglectful of my social media of the past week but I have a good excuse - WE"RE BUYING A HOUSE! I'm sure I'll have some home posts over the next few months as well move, get settled in and make our house a home and my posts be a little less frequent over the next month but I do have some items to share with y'all included my most recent Monobox. The Monobox is offered by I Love Jewelry and I have a love / hate relationship with the company. On one hand I love the products and it's fun to receive a monogramed item every month but on the other the customer service is TERRIBLE if you have any issues and ordering non subscription items from them takes forever to arrive - like 6 to 8 weeks. It's really frustrating to see the company constantly selling on social media when it's clear they have problems fulfilling their orders and especially because they promote season and trendy items. So, buyer beware if you order from this comp…
