Ipsy Glam Bag May 2017

Happy Friday Y'all! Today It's back to back beauty subscriptions because my Ipsy glam bag arrived yesterday. This month Ipsy also sent a plastic bag and although the print is not my favorite it's certainly seasonally appropriate and perfect for keeping stuff dry at the beach or pool this summer.

Here's what's inside:

Ipsy gives subscribers points for reviewing products and referring friends so this month I was abler to cash in points for the Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup to go Liquid Compact $25 - I was pretty impressed to receive a full size compact. I really like the idea of having a liquid foundation in a compact form and this is the first I have seen this. The formula offers a light coverage but gives the dewy complexion look

This brush is very soft and I love the rose gold metal. I've learned from my custom makeovers at Sephora that applying foundation with a brush is the way to go so I was very pleased to receive this brush.

Mellow Lipstick in Nude $13
I prefer a matte lip but I would call this color more of a pink than a nude - not that I'm complaining, I like it. When used as a blush (yes, you can totally do that with your lipsticks!) it gives a nice soft flush to the cheeks

This highlighter gives a nice glow but make my cheeks a little too shiny for my taste. I do however love it on my eyes.

Starlooks Pro Eyeliner Pen $19
Although I enjoy the idea of a fun twist on eyeliner I don't see myself utilizing the start stamp. The eyeliner itself is nice- not to thick not too thin and there are other stamps available - including a heart if you want to go for the Charlotte Wells look (she a character on the hulu show Harlots)

I think this is the perfect color for a bride who is wanting to do her pedicure as her something blue The formula dries fast and doesn't drip which is a big plus but I did find that I needed three coats to get full coverage.

Overall this was a really solid Ipsy bag - it took a year but I feel like they really got what type of products I like and like to try. Sign up here to get your own Ipsy bag sent to you for $10 each month.

I tried

As I've blogged about previously this year I am trying to cut back on my amount of clothing and my fashion spending. But now I've realized the problem with that - I've purged a lot and now I wearing the same 8 seasonally appropriate  outfits on rotation - which is not great when you're also trying to focus your blog to have more of a fashion emphasis; plus it's reminded me why I typically bought so much clothes - it's boring wearing the same thing over and over again. Of course, part of this is my bad because I'm also supposed to be trying to wear things differently so they don't look like the same outfit over and over again. This my friends is easier said than done. So take last Saturday for example - Shaun and I headed to Ikea to look at sofas and kitchen ideas (woohoo - married life is so glamorous!). Initially I threw on jeans, a cotton top and a cardigan since it was looking to be a little chilly look and right as I was about to say ok, I'm r…

Wardrobe Wednesday - 1 month update

Hello Friends! Now that I'm done with Wedding Wednesday I've decided to shift my regular Wednesday to the big thing I'm focused on right now - my wardrobe! If you're not friends with me on FB, or you are an have me hidden due to political differences (hey, it's the world we live in, I get it) you might have missed that on a regular basis I'm posting my OOTD (outfit of the day) to be voted on for keep, restyle or purge. So far the votes have been really helpful and between the votes and stuff I'm purging on my own I have quite the purge pile developed. Here's the most popular thing I've posted:
This plaid top from Old Navy was purchased during their black Friday sale when the entire store is 50% off - I usually take this as a go time to stock up on cotton tees and other basics but I was really drawn to this color combination when I saw it in store. So far this has been the only piece I've posted that has received a 100% keep vote so I'd say…

Wedding Guest PSA

Over the weekend my husband and I packed up all of the wedding gifts we received and moved them into storage in preparation of our anticipated move later this year and it was a wonderful reminder of all the love and support we received during our wedding. Because I personally enjoyed hearing from recent brides in wedding chats prior to our wedding I am still in a wedding chat and from time to time will comment when something similar to something we experienced pops up in my newsfeed. One thing that I see a common frustration with is guest lists and as a recent bride I  have a few thoughts on this. Since it's almost time for the 2017 wedding season to begin which means invites for spring weddings have already gone out I figure now is a good time for a little PSA when it comes to wedding invites. Our wedding invite Not only from my own wedding but from my numerous conversations with fellow brides I can say with certainty that the guest list is one of the biggest considerations a c…
