May and June Monobox

Back in April I decided to re-subscribe to the monbox. I was a little hesitant due to issues with the October and December 2016 boxes but so far I've been pleased with what I have received.

The May box arrived while we were packing for the big move so I never got around to taking my own pictures but here's the items from the company's instagram:

I think the model is pretty short because the robe is not nearly as long on me but I do love it - very lightweight and cozy - Shaun says it makes me feel like Teddy bear - and I do love the ruffle trim and light pink monogram. I wear my hair up everyday so hair ties are never a bad thing IMO and although the tray is small I like it because it think it's perfect for my nightstand for my rings and glasses at night. I think this might be my favorite box yet!

It seems like monobox has been sending out holiday themed items when there is a holiday and they send them a month in advance so the June box is all about getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July. The tank is very soft but a little shorter than I typically wear my tees so I'll only wear it with pjs. I think the tote is good for all summer because it brings in a nautical look - it's made with canvas and although not what I would call sturdy it should certainly last for the season. The little anchor pocket has adhesive on the back - I stuck mine inot my phone case because sometimes when running errands I do prefer just to bring my id and one card instead of my whole purse / wallet.

The May robe is something I absolutely would have purchased on my own if I hadn't received it in my box. If I saw the June tote in a store I would probably pass but I certainly don't mind receiving it and feel like the June box was a good value. Box contents are not revealed until after the signup is complete, which goes through the end of the prior month - so you have until June 30th to sign upo for the July box. Items are shipped as they are ready, not all at once. For example, my friend C has not even received tracking for hers and mine arrived this past Saturday. Sizing is available up to 2xl and the cost is $21.95 a month plus shipping - if you feel like you would enjoy the items but monograms aren't your thing you can select no monogram as your option. Since I'm a newlywed I've enjoyed stocking up on items with my new monogram. If you like cute surprise accessories I recommend this subscription.

And so it begins

I've been working on this post for awhile but I wasn't quite ready to share it with the world. Some of you might still be wondering why I'm sharing. Well we're married a year now, we bought the big house in the good school district so I know you're wondering - when are they going to have a baby. So now you don't have to feel awkward asking if we're trying to conceive (TTC) the answer is no - well not yet at least. Right now we're on a plan I'm referring to as pre-TTC.
My Pre-TTC tools - tracking planner, thermometer and prescription  It's awkward to be honest - there's lots of online groups and forums for women TTC but no one really talks about pre TTC, it's like you just wake up and one day say ok, we're now ready to have a baby. But as I've learned, it's really not that simple. I've had conversations with a very few people about this on one hand here I am bitching about how this is something that isn't talked abou…

Gratitude Challenge

So this month I was all set to do the whole gratitude challenge thing  but as I started to think of what things I might post about I started to think maybe this isn't the best idea. Is it possible to do a gratitude challenge and come up with 30 unique expressions of gratitude without humble bragging? My day to day life is pretty boring and we don't have cute kids that provide a constant supply of little daily antidotes to be grateful about and I know that this isn't about picking up 30 material possessions  in my life and posting about them. But even when I look past the "stuff" in my life and more behind emotional and non tangible things it still just doesn't feel right - does the friend with the sick kid really need my post about how #blessed I am with good health popping up in her feed? I think not.
Maybe I'm being Debbie downer on what's supposed to be a lighthearted and fun social media engagement but I just can't get my heart into it becau…

Shelby Jewel

I really wanted to have this post up yesterday but if you've been following my instagram stories at all you will have seen that I remembered this weekend that I still needed to refinish my dining room table if I had any hopes of using it for Thanksgiving (and yes, I am on track to finish it tonight, Woohoo!) So here I am a day late but not a dollar short with a post on some fun fashion finds. Last week I attended the preview party for a new online boutique started by Memphis Blogger Shelby Jewel. Shelby has beautiful taste so I knew I was interested in checking out her boutique. Nothing says welcome like a glass of Champagne! Racks of beautiful tops Swoon worthy Jackets Pretty Tassel Earrings So, I'll admit I was very nervous about this event, Shelby is very small and most boutique sizes are small as well - I am not. But, I really wanted to see the pretty things and thought hey, you never know. As I predicted clothing is available in S - L but I have found that with some bou…

Vi Peel

Hello! So I got my first Vi Peel which I was super excited about. Since the Botox post was popular I figure y'all would like this too. Besides, it's well established I'm beyond any sense of privacy or shame here.
I got my first peel years ago - a mild Glycolic peel added onto my facial when I turned 23. Then a few years ago I went to a friends Botox party, I was 26 and scared of Botox at the time but I got a TCA peel and liked the results but not the price tag so I bought the solution online and started doing them myself. All was fine and dandy at home until I stopped following the instructions, opps. The peel was supposed to be applied with a cotton pad , I had the genius idea this past march to brush it on. It dripped and got too deep into my skin resulting on uneven peeling.
So I had to wait for that mess to heal before I could get it professionally fixed. I decided to switch to the vi peel because its supposed to be better and hurts less, tca literally produces tear…

Thanksgiving Essentials

Next week is Thanksgiving and I am soooo excited! Thanksgiving is basically all of my favorite things in one day - chilling in pjs watching the parade, delicious food, family time, and shopping! For the past few years we have gone our for Thanksgiving because the condo was not wheelchair friendly for my grandmother and my dad moved out of town but this year we're going back to having Thanksgiving at home and while I'm sad we won't have my grandma this year I am excited to be cooking the Thanksgiving meal again. In my humble opinion Thanksgiving is no time for healthy eating and since everyone has their own favorites I say bring on the carbs - this is what my menu this year will be: 1. Champagne Turkey 2. Stuffing 3. Green Bean Casserole 4. Sweet Potato Casserole 5. Mashed Potatoes 6. Peas 7. Corn Soufflé 8. Broccoli 9. Pillsbury Crescent Rolls 10. Cranberry sauce (from the can of course, I hate it but my family tells me this is the only way to have it) 11. Pie 12. Ma…
