Wardrobe Wednesday - Currently Craving

Although my clothing is mostly unpacked and hanging in the closet I still have all my shoes and accessories in boxes and although I purchased a few items in May as part of my Wardrobe Makeover blogging about them is going to have to wait another week. Today though instead of talking about what I have bought I thought I'd share a few items that I'd like to buy.

I love this skirt so much, which also comes in blush BTW, and I pretty much want to copy the entire look here. This skirt is named after the Whimsy and Wonder blog and the bow and length really matches my style. I feel like I already have a blush skirt so I should get the purple but I also feel like purple is better in fall and winter so I should wait to purchase.
Mules are really in style right now and trend reports indicate this will carry into the fall. I had a nude pump on my wardrobe wish list for the year and I've yet to find one so I thought this might be a fun, more casual alternative.
I've been watching this top since March - I feel like it would be a good piece because it could be added to a lot of outfits or just elevate a plain tee like it's doing for the model.
I'm usually not one for jumpsuits but I have a romper I love so this would be the next step in trying new things and I think this would be a fun alternative to a little black dress.
I used to wear dresses all the time and now I rarely do and I'd love to get a fun not black dress, I love the style on this one but the color is giving me some pause - it's so cute though!
It's funny how even in the few short month's I've been focused on paring down my wardrobe how much my mindset has changed - just in the course of writing out this post I deleted three items from my wish list - a tie front blue and white gingham top ( I have one in peplum from VBxTarget and certainly do not need two gingham tops) a black dress (it's nice and I probably do need a summer appropriate plain black dress but I put the jumpsuit on my list as a dress alternative, thus I don't need both) and a lace pencil skirts  (it's pretty and looks amazing on other bloggers but if I'm being completely honest, pencil skirts just don't work for me). In the past I've purchased items because they were currently in style, or looked pretty and now I find myself really evaluating each piece - how does this compliment would I already own and wear, does this fill any voids in my closet or do I already have something like it, is this something practical for my life style, how will I wear this piece? - basically all the stuff you're supposed to think about before buying something.
During the course of the move I eliminated over 1/2 of my clothing and I'm looking forward to showing y'all in a future post how much my closet has changed. While the big move for me was a great opportunity to purge I'd recommend everyone pulling every single piece from their closet from time to time - it feels so much better not having a crammed closet and getting past impulse buying.

Spring Forward with a Wooden Watch

Hello Friends! Have you been making it to work on time this week or did your body have a hard time with the adjustment? Personally I am not a morning person so I have an easier time with fall daylight savings than I do spring. Here in Memphis the trees are starting to bloom and spring is in the air, which means its time to reflect the season in my wardrobe. I've swapped out my purse from black to blush, added a few new floral tops and got a new watch to help keep me on time as I adjust to the time change. For my watch, I selected the Frankie Purpleheart & Plum watch from Jord. Not only are oversized watches so in right now but I love the use of the Purpleheart wood and plum face to give a twist on a classic style watch. As y'all know love all shades of pink and I think the coloring of this watch goes with it so beautifully and the blush tones of my outfit really make the distinctness of the Purpleheart wood stand out.
I've been very intrigued by the wooden watch tre…

Hostess with the Mostess

One of my favorite things is to entertain. Since moving last summer we have hosted some kind of event at least once a month and while we keep talking about slowing down it doesn't look like we'll stop anytime soon. Party hosting can be a lot of fun but it can also be exhausting, especially if you aren't prepared, so I've pulled together my "best practices" so you can learn from my mistakes and make your next gathering a little less stressful. The first step of course is to determine what kind of gathering you'll be hosting - we've hosted everything from Thanksgiving dinner with all the fancy crystal and china to a casual come on over for burgers on the grill but I think my favorite event that we've hosted so far has been a baby shower for our sweet friends.

Once you know what kind of event you're hosting think about the guest list and how you'll invite everyone - for just a gathering of our friends we use facebook but if you want to be …

Sweater Weather

Although I could do without the snow and single digit temps I do love winter because a lot of my favorite clothes are winter clothes. There's something about a cozy sweater that makes me feel good so of course I'm loving the current trend of statement sleeve sweaters.

With trends I really have to be careful to control myself, especially with these because it's a style I REALLY like. Without the little voice in my head reminding me that I do not need a closet of practically identical pieces I would own several of the tiered sleeve sweaters, thank goodness for that voice! For the tiered sleeve look I went with black because it's versatile and since this is such a trendy piece and there's no guarantee this will be in style come next winter I wanted something I would get a lot of wear out of this season. Likewise when buying a bell sleeve cardigan I wanted something I could wear throughout winter and possibly into spring - this sweater with jeans and a comfy tee unde…

Draper James for Eloquii

OMG Y'ALL! My southern girl heart just burst with happiness - I can FINALLY get Draper James clothing in my size!!! I've been meaning to check out the brand Eloquii for a while but the news that they collaborated with Draper James gave me the push I needed to make my purchase. Draper Jeans typically only goes to a size 14 and the Eloquii brand is carrying 14 to 28 for this limited collaboration. I know a lot of people have been asking Draper James to include more sizes and I recognize a few of the items in the collection from a survey I participated in a few months ago so its so nice to see a brand taking customer feedback and acting on it.
The prices are a little more than I typically pay for these types of items but I was able to use a $30 referral credit towards my purchase and I'm sharing one with y'all as well.
I wound up getting this pink hibiscus print dress for $135
I already have the Totes Y'all bag and I highly recommend it. On my wish list is this B…

Date Box July 2017

It's day four of my trip and tonight will be my last night of sleeping (or trying to sleep) in a big ,empty hotel bed so I guess you could say I'm missing my husband a little bit. Last weekend we had a really fun date night with our monthly Date Box. Date Box is a subscription service that sends the tools for a monthly date night in to your home for $39.95 a month. We have received dates for things such as painting, a spa night and escape room; This month's date provided us a fun night of cocktails and conversation. Each box comes with an activity, a snack , conversation starters and a spotify playlist. Most of the dates are things that could be repeated and this date is definitely something we'll do again.
This month's box came with recipes for several cocktails and mocktails, a cocktail shaker, jigger and stirrer to make out cocktails, coasters with conversation starters and the card game Rook. Although it wasn't one of the recipes included we made some f…
