Wardrobe Wednesday - Currently Craving

Although my clothing is mostly unpacked and hanging in the closet I still have all my shoes and accessories in boxes and although I purchased a few items in May as part of my Wardrobe Makeover blogging about them is going to have to wait another week. Today though instead of talking about what I have bought I thought I'd share a few items that I'd like to buy.

I love this skirt so much, which also comes in blush BTW, and I pretty much want to copy the entire look here. This skirt is named after the Whimsy and Wonder blog and the bow and length really matches my style. I feel like I already have a blush skirt so I should get the purple but I also feel like purple is better in fall and winter so I should wait to purchase.

Mules are really in style right now and trend reports indicate this will carry into the fall. I had a nude pump on my wardrobe wish list for the year and I've yet to find one so I thought this might be a fun, more casual alternative.

I've been watching this top since March - I feel like it would be a good piece because it could be added to a lot of outfits or just elevate a plain tee like it's doing for the model.

I'm usually not one for jumpsuits but I have a romper I love so this would be the next step in trying new things and I think this would be a fun alternative to a little black dress.

I used to wear dresses all the time and now I rarely do and I'd love to get a fun not black dress, I love the style on this one but the color is giving me some pause - it's so cute though!

It's funny how even in the few short month's I've been focused on paring down my wardrobe how much my mindset has changed - just in the course of writing out this post I deleted three items from my wish list - a tie front blue and white gingham top ( I have one in peplum from VBxTarget and certainly do not need two gingham tops) a black dress (it's nice and I probably do need a summer appropriate plain black dress but I put the jumpsuit on my list as a dress alternative, thus I don't need both) and a lace pencil skirts  (it's pretty and looks amazing on other bloggers but if I'm being completely honest, pencil skirts just don't work for me). In the past I've purchased items because they were currently in style, or looked pretty and now I find myself really evaluating each piece - how does this compliment would I already own and wear, does this fill any voids in my closet or do I already have something like it, is this something practical for my life style, how will I wear this piece? - basically all the stuff you're supposed to think about before buying something.

During the course of the move I eliminated over 1/2 of my clothing and I'm looking forward to showing y'all in a future post how much my closet has changed. While the big move for me was a great opportunity to purge I'd recommend everyone pulling every single piece from their closet from time to time - it feels so much better not having a crammed closet and getting past impulse buying.

10 Year Challenge

Earlier this week I shared an image encouraging people to think about their accomplishments over the past ten years rather than how their looks have changed and listed all the positive things that have happened in my own life. It's not that I mind sharing pics of what I looked like 10 years ago but just sharing a picture doesn't tell the whole story. I had a lot of people respond congratulating me on my accomplishments and while I appreciate that it made me realize my intention was never to brag or say oh, look how great my life has been because the past ten years have been years of struggle and success.
Here you see a girl who thinks she's the life of the party - she's 24 and has practically no responsibilities but I don't envy her or wish I could return to that lifestyle.
Meanwhile, you look at this 34 year old woman and you see she's changed the way she treats her hair, she has some lines around the eyes and roundness to her face that wasn't there befo…

Timeless Style of a Natural Stone Watch

Hello Friends! I hope 2018 wrapped up nicely for you and you're watching out for opportunities in the new year. I love gifting to others but let's be real - I also love treating myself which is why I'm so excited to be wearing a new watch into the new year! Plus- it's perfect for my New Year's resolution to be on time more in 2019. Don't worry - I have a treat for you too at the end of this post.

Last year I received a beautiful wooden watch (which I still love BTW) but there have been times when I 've  wanted something a little more elegant on my wrist. The folks at Jord must have been reading my mind because they just released the new Sier Arcadia collection featuring interchangeable leather and mesh bands and natural stone faces. Each style is truly beautiful but I was drawn to the Sodalite and Gold style because it's unique from any watch I've seen. I tend to wear a lot of blues so this unique style really compliments my wardrobe. The only oth…

Hello Kitty Tea

A few months ago I was scrolling on instagram and I saw some posts about a place called The Hello Kitty Grand Café. Now I had stopped by the Hello Kitty Café food truck when it rolled through Memphis (check out my post on that here) but this looked to be taking the experience to the next level. After digging into it I discovered that The Hello Kitty Grand Café was not far from my in-law’s home in Southern California and lucky for me we had trip already planned. The Hello Kitty Grand Café operates with several functions – the front section of the location operates just like the food truck with a menu of sweets and drinks, anyone can walk in for counter service and there are a few tables in addition to some photo spots available. In the back is The Bow Room which offers a pre-fixe tea menu during the day and turns into a cocktail lounge in the evenings. Reservations are currently taken through Yelp and open up 30 days in advance- while weekend reservations can be hard to come by its a l…

Go WILD, Y'all

I'm writing this post with a serious case of the Mondays as I'm recovering from Go Wild this past week. Go Wild is the annual conference run by the Wild for Planners group and it is so much fun! This year's conference was in Nashville and while there is was announced that 2018 will be in Austin, TX. In addition to bringing planner enthusiasts together this event also presents the opportunity to hear from great speakers, meet planner  / planner goodies suppliers and the part that people to notice the most - awesome swag.   I first found out about the group last year when some planner girls I followed posted on instagram about the conference. To an outsider it looks like oh fun, planner girls gathering and getting tons of swag - I want to go! But the reality is it's so much for than that and to be perfectly honest if you're only interested in the swag you'd be better off staying home and going on a shopping spree. Since everyone wants to know the most though wha…

Birthday Discounts

Woohoo! It's my birthday week y'all! Birthdays are always a great time for brands to make customers special and each year I'm able to take advantage of some pretty good discounts in July so I thought I would share the love and talk about some of my favorite discounts and how to get them.

My absolute favorite discount is from Kendra Scott! During your birthday month you can receive one regular item at 50% off. It's your first time you'll have to show your id in store and sign up for their email list but then once they have you on file you can just go into the store and say that you would like to apply your birthday discount to your purchase and give your email address. This year I purchased the Tatiana Long Pendant Necklace which usually sells for $175. This necklace takes the look of the popular Rayne necklace and really amps it up.
If jewelry is your thing you can also get a $10 credit from Charming Charlie - this discount is sent to Charm Rewards members at the…
