Lauren James Timeless Planner Review and Giveaway

Happy Friday Y'all! Today I have a special treat - I'm having a giveaway on my Instagram. I've been posting a lot lately about the super cute southern brand Lauren James. I discovered LJ last Christmas season when I purchased a really cute Christmas sweater t-shirt and realized it's the most comfortable tee ever. Lauren James recently had their annual Pink Friday sale which offered 50% off or more the entire site; as a special treat for this sale the company featured mystery boxes for $30 - of course I had to grab one! I've seen posts on instagram of other people's boxes and it looks like everyone received a very similar product mix. Inside the box was: 1. pair of shorts 2. cotton tank 3.  long sleeve sweet tee 4. wearable drink hugger 5. tervis tumbler 6. ceramic to-go coffee mug 7. floral accessory bag 8. floral notebook 9. floral spiral notebook 10. two drink huggers 11. the timeless planner 12. planner stickers I was thrilled with the box and found it to b…

Plus Size Boudoir

I’ve had this post on my idea list for months and each month I find myself hesitating and pushing to the next list but somehow the timing now just feels good. Before the wedding I booked a bridal boudoir session – to me this served two main purposes one was the obvious to have some sexy pictures for my husband but two and the reason I think other ladies should book a session is to feel glamorous, sexy and confident going into the wedding. Of course, I don’t think you need to be getting married to do a session but for me that timing just felt right. This isn’t going to be a picture heavy posts – the whole point was to have pictures for my husband and I think that takes away the specialness if I share them all with the world; also I only have physical copies of the photos, no digitals. But I do think it’s important that if I’m going to write this post to share a few images so please understand the quality of a picture of a picture isn’t the best but you get the idea. The goal here is le…

Sephora Play July 2017

Well I finally decided to get down to one makeup subscription. Don't get me wrong, $10 is a great price for a makeup bag and five samples but I was finding the products to be a bit repetitive and was on sample overload so I need a break. I decided to keep Sephora Play because I tend to make most of my beauty products from Sephora so I'd rather focus on learning more about products they offer than products that would need to be purchased elsewhere. The theme for July is Glamp Out Satiation - so products good a for a beauty night in. I do wish the bags with this sub were a little more substantial but this month's design is really cute.

Here's what's inside: Clinique Pep Start 2-in1 Exfoliating Cleanser $19.50
I like this exfoliating cleanser -it's gentle enough for everyday use and didn't leave my skin feeling like it had been completely stripped. Madame CJ Walker Deep Conditioning Masque $32
I was not impressed with this at all - it's obviously better t…

Lauren James Sticker Subscription - July 2017

Hey y'all! Today I have a new subscription for you - the Lauren James Sticker Subscription. Lauren James is a southern brand based in Arkansas that offers fun apparel with southern flair. They have the cutest designs printed on tees, koozies and stickers! I'm waiting on my last order to post a full review here but after discovering this brand last December I must say it has quickly become one of my favorites and I love their stickers as a fun little way to have something it their super cute prints. Stickers typically sell for $3.00 each on the website but Lauren James recently stated offering a sticker subscription for $5 and it includes five stickers each month. If you follow any of my planning adventurers than you know I LOVE stickers. These stickers are high quality vinyl and can be placed on a variety of items - tumblers, laptops, notebooks, you name it! And because they're vinyl they peel off when you want to swap out your look. Here's the stickers I received t…

Birthday Discounts

Woohoo! It's my birthday week y'all! Birthdays are always a great time for brands to make customers special and each year I'm able to take advantage of some pretty good discounts in July so I thought I would share the love and talk about some of my favorite discounts and how to get them.

My absolute favorite discount is from Kendra Scott! During your birthday month you can receive one regular item at 50% off. It's your first time you'll have to show your id in store and sign up for their email list but then once they have you on file you can just go into the store and say that you would like to apply your birthday discount to your purchase and give your email address. This year I purchased the Tatiana Long Pendant Necklace which usually sells for $175. This necklace takes the look of the popular Rayne necklace and really amps it up.
If jewelry is your thing you can also get a $10 credit from Charming Charlie - this discount is sent to Charm Rewards members at the…

$40 Date - Life's a Beach

I feel like I mention it in every single blog post but moving has had such big impact on our lives. Although we've been going out plenty we haven't really had a "date night" in a while but recently I decided we needed a day off- no work, no doing stuff for either house - just some time for the two of us to relax. Of course one of the best ways to relax is to go on vacation but hey we both work so unlimited time isn't an option and let's be real - neither are unlimited funds; so we had a little day-cation instead. Honestly, I don't know why we haven't done this earlier as it's not too far south of Memphis but we went to the Hernando Point beach at Lake Arkabutla. Was it just like going to the "real" beach? No. Is it fancy? Absolutely not. But there was sand and there was water and you know what - whether you're jumping off a $100K boat or floating on a $5 raft the water feels the same. Best part of this date was how affordable it w…

Wardrobe Wednesday - Statement Earrings

One of my favorite ways to stay on trend each season is with jewelry - specifically for me earrings. Jewelry fits no matter your size and while bracelets can get in the way with work and necklaces can either complete or compete with an outfit I find that I wear earrings every single day and I tend to be drawn to statement earrings. My absolute favorite statement earrings are the Kendra Scott Danielle Earrings. But at $65 a pair I tend to purchase one pair per season. I got this green pair last fall because I thought it would be good to dress up football outfits when we watch Green Bay Packer games. With palm prints being so in style right now I'm getting a lot of wear out of this particular pair this summer. I also have them in blue, burgundy and mother of peal and I have my eye on the pink pair as my next set. Last spring I mixed it up and got these Emma Chandelier earrings. I feel like the chandelier is a classic style and these are actually pretty lightweights as far as ch…

Mommy Lhey Little Bits June 2017

Since the move and realizing how many craft supplies I already have I've been trying to cut back on my crafting / planning supplies spending but I still really enjoy receiving my Mommy Lhey Little Bits box as a monthly treat.

The June box had a wonderfully bright and cheery tropical theme, look at all the goodness included inside:

Yes, I know it's a lot for one photo - here's a breakdown of all the items:

The patterned papers This is the 4th month in a rom Mommy Lhey has included a traveler's notebook cover in the kit - this month's is yellow which is perfect for summer. There's a cactus clip, sequins, puffy stickers, journaling cards, a pen pouch and a pineapple notepad. That's not all! We also received a pineapple pen, washi tape, a flamingo planner charm, stamps, die cuts and eight sticker sheets. I used the stickers and washi for my planner layout this week: This kit is about $30 shipped and ships the last week of the month. Sign ups are currently o…

Beach Essentials

Summer time inevitably  means a trip to the beach. Growing up my husband and I had very different ways of beaching - he being from southern California is used to just taking a towel and maybe a boogie board while I grew up with a little more "princessey" way of beaching - chairs, umbrella, blanket, beach bag with supplies for the day. True story - I was shocked the first time I went to the beach with my husband and his family used the same towel they had on the sand to dry off with. Over our years together we've melded our styles - mostly him admitting that it's nice to sit in actual chairs.

Even if we're only going for a few hours I always bring a tote with what I consider some "beach essentials" - sunglasses, a water bottle, a magazine or book, a hair brush, some hair ties or clip, and of course sunscreen.
