Monobox July 2017

Oh Mylanta, I can't believe it's the 2nd week of August already! July was a crazy busy month so I'm just now getting to share with y'all the July monobox.

The Monobox from I Love Jewelry features one monogramed item monthly and two coordinating accessories. Being a southern girl I love monogramed things and being a newlywed I find this a nice way to stock up on items in my new-ish monogram. The July monobox featured a monogram Turkish towel, sunglasses and a bikini bag - it's just a pouch that is plastic so you can put wet items in it. Here's a look a the products:

I usually don't buy these types of towels but I didn't mind this one. It's long enough to layout on a beach chair or  the sand but I still prefer a fluffy terrycloth towel for drying off. The sunglasses are pretty decent - not the best quality but not bad - I'm always up for having an extra pair of sunglasses hanging around. The pouch is actually very roomy - I think it's great for taking items you don't want to get wet , like your phone, down to the pool or beach and it was roomy enough to fit my plus size swimsuit for traveling home. If you like these items but missed out on July I've noticed they typically have prior month's box items on the website.

I love jewelry does not have the best customer service - they are very slow to respond to emails (took me a week to get a response when I received an automated message saying it would be 48 hours) ; and they send shipping notifications when orders are in queue to be produced not when they actually ship out  but I have never not received my product nor have I have thought it was a bad product or bad value even if a particular box is not to my personal taste. Most monogramed item tend to be the interlocking script but they do occasionally change it up. Overall I am pleased enough with the products I receive and value to continue the service. Each box is $21.95 plus shipping and lately it seems like you can get the month's box after it's been revealed - August is a brown monogrammed purse with a pen and notepad.

Spring Forward with a Wooden Watch

Hello Friends! Have you been making it to work on time this week or did your body have a hard time with the adjustment? Personally I am not a morning person so I have an easier time with fall daylight savings than I do spring. Here in Memphis the trees are starting to bloom and spring is in the air, which means its time to reflect the season in my wardrobe. I've swapped out my purse from black to blush, added a few new floral tops and got a new watch to help keep me on time as I adjust to the time change. For my watch, I selected the Frankie Purpleheart & Plum watch from Jord. Not only are oversized watches so in right now but I love the use of the Purpleheart wood and plum face to give a twist on a classic style watch. As y'all know love all shades of pink and I think the coloring of this watch goes with it so beautifully and the blush tones of my outfit really make the distinctness of the Purpleheart wood stand out.
I've been very intrigued by the wooden watch tre…

Hostess with the Mostess

One of my favorite things is to entertain. Since moving last summer we have hosted some kind of event at least once a month and while we keep talking about slowing down it doesn't look like we'll stop anytime soon. Party hosting can be a lot of fun but it can also be exhausting, especially if you aren't prepared, so I've pulled together my "best practices" so you can learn from my mistakes and make your next gathering a little less stressful. The first step of course is to determine what kind of gathering you'll be hosting - we've hosted everything from Thanksgiving dinner with all the fancy crystal and china to a casual come on over for burgers on the grill but I think my favorite event that we've hosted so far has been a baby shower for our sweet friends.

Once you know what kind of event you're hosting think about the guest list and how you'll invite everyone - for just a gathering of our friends we use facebook but if you want to be …

Sweater Weather

Although I could do without the snow and single digit temps I do love winter because a lot of my favorite clothes are winter clothes. There's something about a cozy sweater that makes me feel good so of course I'm loving the current trend of statement sleeve sweaters.

With trends I really have to be careful to control myself, especially with these because it's a style I REALLY like. Without the little voice in my head reminding me that I do not need a closet of practically identical pieces I would own several of the tiered sleeve sweaters, thank goodness for that voice! For the tiered sleeve look I went with black because it's versatile and since this is such a trendy piece and there's no guarantee this will be in style come next winter I wanted something I would get a lot of wear out of this season. Likewise when buying a bell sleeve cardigan I wanted something I could wear throughout winter and possibly into spring - this sweater with jeans and a comfy tee unde…

Draper James for Eloquii

OMG Y'ALL! My southern girl heart just burst with happiness - I can FINALLY get Draper James clothing in my size!!! I've been meaning to check out the brand Eloquii for a while but the news that they collaborated with Draper James gave me the push I needed to make my purchase. Draper Jeans typically only goes to a size 14 and the Eloquii brand is carrying 14 to 28 for this limited collaboration. I know a lot of people have been asking Draper James to include more sizes and I recognize a few of the items in the collection from a survey I participated in a few months ago so its so nice to see a brand taking customer feedback and acting on it.
The prices are a little more than I typically pay for these types of items but I was able to use a $30 referral credit towards my purchase and I'm sharing one with y'all as well.
I wound up getting this pink hibiscus print dress for $135
I already have the Totes Y'all bag and I highly recommend it. On my wish list is this B…

Date Box July 2017

It's day four of my trip and tonight will be my last night of sleeping (or trying to sleep) in a big ,empty hotel bed so I guess you could say I'm missing my husband a little bit. Last weekend we had a really fun date night with our monthly Date Box. Date Box is a subscription service that sends the tools for a monthly date night in to your home for $39.95 a month. We have received dates for things such as painting, a spa night and escape room; This month's date provided us a fun night of cocktails and conversation. Each box comes with an activity, a snack , conversation starters and a spotify playlist. Most of the dates are things that could be repeated and this date is definitely something we'll do again.
This month's box came with recipes for several cocktails and mocktails, a cocktail shaker, jigger and stirrer to make out cocktails, coasters with conversation starters and the card game Rook. Although it wasn't one of the recipes included we made some f…
