Super Bowl Snacks

Y'all - I am SOOO excited about the Super Bowl this year. Maybe it's because it's our first time to be able to host a Super Bowl Party,  maybe it's because Justin Timberlake is returning to the half time show, or maybe I'm just excited to not hear about fantasy football and team stats for 6 months but either way I am ready! This year we are providing drinks and a few snacks for our party and asked that guests bring a dish to share. Even when hosting a potluck style gathering I think it's important for the host to provide a few dishes so that even if someone forgets or doesn't have time to bring a dish there's still plenty of food to go around. Whether you are hosting this year or attending a party and only need to bring one dish I've complied a best of pinterest list to help you out. Buffalo Chicken Dip When we watch football with friends my signature dish is typically a buffalo chicken dip - I made it once and the guys keep requesting it so I gu…

Little Black Dress Styling

Y"ALL! Oh my, I think I have finally found a pretty solid little black dress. Now I'll admit I wish it was thicker cotton / higher quality but otherwise it's just what I was looking for - sleeves, a-line waist and a knee length skirt with a little swing to it. I can layer it when it's cold but it's cool enough for when it's warm. To me, with the start of the new year January is a good time to get back to basics - a reset if you will. I tend to evaluate my undergarment situation and but new where needed , think about what needs to be replaced in my closet and what is missing but I also try to think about how a can work with what I have to make new outfits and this is where the LBD comes in - it's so versatile so it's a great way to start incorporating new pieces into your wardrobe or mixing up pieces you already own. As a shopaholic sometimes there's something I REALLY want but it doesn't go with a lot of things in my closet - this is why a bl…

Prep Obsessed Mystery Mail Day

Yesterday I finally left the house for work and resumed my normal routine - I'd love to tell you I accomplished a ton around the house but that would be a lie. As much as I enjoyed having extra chill time I don't enjoy when my routine gets thrown all out of whack so it was good to get back to normal life - plus this means that mail delivery resumed! Mail delivery is always exciting for me since I get a decent amount of packages throughout the month and yesterday was exciting because my mystery mailers from Prep Obsessed arrived; this month I purchased both "The Big Game" mailer and Valentine mailer. The big game mailer promised a Prep Obsessed signature tee and five game day essentials - I always try to get the mailers that include a tee as I love Prep O tees and would buy them anyway - then the items included just becomes a bonus. This mailer did not disappoint.

Football Tee - I'm especially excited about this one because my Alma Matter's colors are blue a…

2018 Wardrobe Goals

New Year, New Wardrobe . . .just kidding! If you offered to buy me a new wardrobe this time last year I would have been all over it but this year I would politely decline because there's too many items I wouldn't want to part with. I know I've made several posts here about my "closet project" and I'm sorry if I sound dramatic about it but y'all I am just so proud of myself.
Sketch of my favorite outfit of 2017 Full confession here: I am a shopaholic - I literally get an endorphin rush when I buy something I like and can spin into a depression episode if I really want something and can't buy it. Over the years I have realized how not only unhealthy this behavior is but how my frequent shopping was holding me back from other areas in my life and last year I decided to stop the cycle. It was hard, there were times when I was moody for days over not buying something or I obsessively looked at something I wanted online every single day counting down unti…

Sweater Weather

Although I could do without the snow and single digit temps I do love winter because a lot of my favorite clothes are winter clothes. There's something about a cozy sweater that makes me feel good so of course I'm loving the current trend of statement sleeve sweaters.

With trends I really have to be careful to control myself, especially with these because it's a style I REALLY like. Without the little voice in my head reminding me that I do not need a closet of practically identical pieces I would own several of the tiered sleeve sweaters, thank goodness for that voice! For the tiered sleeve look I went with black because it's versatile and since this is such a trendy piece and there's no guarantee this will be in style come next winter I wanted something I would get a lot of wear out of this season. Likewise when buying a bell sleeve cardigan I wanted something I could wear throughout winter and possibly into spring - this sweater with jeans and a comfy tee unde…

Best of 2017 Fashion

Hello 2018! I'm getting a slow start to the year since the first week of the month is always my busiest at my day job but before I getting fully into 2018 I'm sharing the best of 2017 today. Last year I placed a strong emphasis on refocusing my wardrobe and I'm pretty pleased how the year went. Next week I'll be sharing my list of classic pieces I plan on adding this year but I first wanted to share some of my favorite pieces from the past year because you'll certainty see them this year. Some of my exact pieces are no longer available but I'm linking some very similar items in both straight and plus sizes in case you want to build your closet classic collection with me.
The whole closet makeover started when I realized that I was lacking a versatile black dress so that was a top priority for me, I soon realized though that a really need a cool weather and warm weather black dress. I wound up seeing a casual cotton swing dress last summer and it would up bei…
