Sephora Play January 2018

This year I've cut back on subscription boxes a lot - right now it's just Mommy Lhey Little Bits (planner supplies) and Sephora Play (beauty). Don't get me wrong, I love getting subscription boxes but if I'm being perfectly honest I also love picking my own things to buy and I'm trying to be even smarter with my spending this year. That said, I like Sephora Play because for $10 a month it keeps me connected with the latest beauty products and lets me try them without spending a fortune.

This month I was super excited by the products inside this months box.

Glam Glow Cleanser $32
I really like the gla glow masks so I was really excited to try this cleanser and it did not disappoint. Most cleansers cannot get off my eye makeup and I have to use a remover but this one cleaned my entire face. Its not drying and because it has a similar consistency although lighter than the mask I feel like it does a great job of giving a deep clear rather than just clean makeup from the skin's surface.

Smashbox Photofinish Primerizer $32
I'll admit - I tend to wear a primer or a moisturizer not both so the idea of a combined product really appeals to me. I felt like this had the same performance as the regular smashbox primer so I see myself switching to this product.

Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream $26.50
I am terrible about wearing eye cream everyday and I should - I'm approaching my mid-30s and try as I might I do not drink as much water everyday as I should so I really need the assistance. I like that this has some brightening aspect to it - because seriously, who has time for 8+ hours of sleep every night? it also has a nice spreadable consistency so a little product goes a long way.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Kristen $16
I love a neutral lip and I love it in a gloss form but this is very similar to other lip items I have so while I'm sure it's great I set it aside to feature in a beauty giveaway . . . .spoiler alert: I plan on doing a beauty bag stuffed with goodies giveaway soon.

Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel $34
This product really needs it's own post to talk about how great it is but let's just say I LOVE it. If you are serious about keeping your skin nice and smooth and / or you have some scars you're looking to fade than lets just say this product is for you.

Bonus Item: Ouai Treatment Mask $32
I LOVE that this year the bonus won't always be a perfume sample. I love perfume but I have a whole container full of samples on my vanity. I've used this conditioning mask before and it has not disappointed - I find my hair less frizzy when I use it.

Sephora Play is off to a great start this year! Can't wait to see what products I get this month.

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2017

OMG, Ipsy finally has a cute bag for the month!
Seriously, this month's coral ticket design bag is super cute and would make a fun little clutch for a night out at a festival or fair.
The items I received this month weren't terrible either. Here's what's inside my bag and my thoughts on each product:
OFRA Cosmetics Peach Blush $12 Everything I've received from this company in my Ipsy bad is a full-sized product (nice)! However they need to be in a refillable palette so that may not be your thing but I just found mine recently so this offends me less. This is overall a nice shade so I'll add it to my palette.
Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel $30 This is a little more lightweight than the aloe gel you can get in a giant bottle at CVS but I'm skeptical yet if that makes it worth $30 for a jar. We're going to the beach in May so the timing is good and I'm sure I'll use the whole sample.
No Poreblem Primer $18 This is a nice, lightweight primer and has a …

Memphis Fashion Week 2017 Emerging Designers

The last night of Memphis Fashion Week is the favorite night for many local fashionistas because it shows off what is up and coming in our city. Once again I was able to grab a great seat and see the pieces up close.

First up for the evening was two time previous winner Tiena. I think it's easy to see why she's won twice before - just wow on these beautiful designs!

I love the model's expression here - it's like she just loves wearing this so much she can't contain it.

I love all of it but the yellow ruffle dress has to be my favorite, it's not a color I would typically be drawn to but there's something so nice about it!
Next up was the teen collection, these pieces were designed by beautiful young ladies all under 20. Once again, I am a complete and total life slacker. Seriously - I was blown away by how talented these girls are:

Sephora Play April 2017

This month's Sephora Play box featured some of the top selling Sephora products, here's what's inside:

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
I currently use this primer and it helps my foundation go on smooth and keeps my face from getting too oily during the day. It's light weight and has no scent and one tube lasts a really long time - I bought mine before my wedding and that was six months ago.

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL eyeliner
The Make Up For Ever brand is very popular at Sephora and very nice quality products. This eyeliner doesn't smudge and goes on smooth.

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream
This is a primer / moisturizer combo and I really like the way it feels - very light weight and makes my skin feel silky

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate
This says it's an "intense exfoliator" but I found it to be very fine. The paste is ather think and a yucky green color with a heavy plant scent, but hey if it works who cares what it looks like.

Sephora Waterproof …

20 Guildelines for Financial Responsibility

As a blogger I constantly worry if I am supporting over consumerism and irresponsible spending. At the end of the day I can say Oh, I LOVE this item and it was so worth it to me but I have to hope that people are making the right decisions based on their own financial situation. But since finance is a passion of mine (it is my day job after all) and since so many of y'all are looking to focus on your own finances in 2019 I thought it might be good to take a step back from fashion and talk about the money honey! I don't claim to have all the answers or to be an expert, but I've learned a lot between my education, my career and to be honest making some bad financial decisions myself so I've complied a list of 20 guidelines for financial success from the basics to saving for the future. The Basics 1. You absolutely must be able to cover the four walls - your home and all utilities and maintenance - and your necessary expenses (food, car, gas) before you can think about…

Plum Paper Designs - Fitness Insert

I know I say this every year but this year I also want to make wellness / fitness a priority. It's hard for me to get in the mindset of making it important because quite frankly it's not something my doctor gets onto me about. But during 2015 I've been making a switch to a more natural lifestyle and that has put fitness back at my top of mind. So, for $4.50 I got the fitness section added onto my Plum Paper Designs Planner
Here's what's inside:

A summary sheet at the front:

A monthly layout for 12 months
Weight Loss Tracker at the Back

I LOVE the monthly layout! First off, having a hydration tracker for each day is going to be so nice. I also love the idea of holding myself accountable to writing down an activity (or excuse) each day. Most of all I love the recognition that each month will have different goals and includes some note sections ; one thing I hear a lot form people who successfully got fit was that they had some kind of tracking and were able to go back…
