Valentine Outfit Inspo

OMG Valentine's Day is this week! That just kinda snuck up on me. Thank goodness my hubby made a reservation weeks ago, now I need to just figure out what to wear.

When I originally shot some Valentine looks I picked two tops that I thought were appropriate and mixed them with a few different skirts to show how you can get different looks mixing and matching.

First I wanted to mix red and pink but do so in a sophisticated manner without looking childish - I think by wearing something that just has accents of pink instead of a full on pink top it works, plus an off the shoulder look makes the outfit more sexy and mature instead of sweet.

But, I also did want to show this top in a more romantic way and I think the soft pink and soft velvet material of the skirt gives that look.

Next I mixed red and pink again and although I was worried how two solid colored pieces would look I think the deep red really compliments the blush of the pink well, plus I love the mixing of luxe fabrics here - lace and velvet.

I know the red lace top would be way to much with the red skirt so I decided to bring in a different type of rose coloring- this time in a rose gold skirt and again I think the colors play nicely with each other.
Unfortunately since I purchased the floral top months ago I can't find it for sale anywhere but the lace top is still available and it comes in black as well. I did find some similar off the shoulder floral tops and truth be told I like some of them even better than mine.

If you don't want to wear red and pink at all but still want to dress a little extra special I wore this green top and rose gold skirt for a recent date night and I'm still obsessing over how much I love the colors together. Both the top and skirt are from Society+ and you can save 10% if you use my code: Mandysue

Finally, even though my hair looks terrible I had to add this last look just because I think it's so pretty and feminine and fun. I also got more compliments from stranger in this outfit than I ever have. The top is included in the tops above and the tutu is from Society+ . . . I'll actually be posting a review of their tut skirts next week but I did want to share this look now so you have time to order before Valentine's day.

Whether you'll be celebrating the day with your sweet heart or galantine you're sure to look fab in any of these looks. I'd love to know what you wind up wearing - tag me if you wear anything inspired by the looks I shared here. I think I'm going to have to post on my stories asking for opinion because honestly I just can't decide which outfit to wear.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY Y'ALL!!!

Sensible Portions

I'm Sometimes you have to recognize your strengths and when it's time to outsource . For me a healthy lifestyle is not a strength. I love the idea of eating small healthy meals and working out everyday but then I get hangry and eat anything in sight. Or I have a busy weekend and don't have time to meal prep, and then I'm screwed for the week and one bad week turns into a bad month, and a bad year and a decade of gaining weight. So, when a sorority sister posted a meal plan she had found success with I was very interested. Shaun and I tried a similar program last year but it was very expensive ($170 for one person for 5 days) That's a great investment if you need to lose 10 or 20 lbs but when you have a lot to lose you need a long term plan that is viable from a time, nutrition and financial aspect.
Long term it's still pricey but I was very impressed with the value and results of sensible portions and decided to give it a try. Like most meal plans the plan is …

Customize your clothing with Eshakti

Have you ever seen an article of clothing and loved it but thought oh, if only it had sleeves, or was longer - as someone who is 5’10 this happens to me ALL THE TIME! Allow me to introduce you to eShakti - the fashion site that allows you to customize your clothes.

eShakti has hundreds of styles to choose from so picking a piece is honestly the hardest part. I selected this blue and white ruffle stripe dress thinking it would be perfect for spring and summer - I love wearing it now but I can’t wear it to the beach in May! Once you select your item you either enter your size or measurements and enter your height. You can then buy the item as it or pay a $9.95 styling fee to select the neckline, sleeves and length to your liking. My dress was above the knee in the default style but I thought a below the knee length would be perfect and I was not disappointed!
Most pieces are under $100 making this an affordable and approachable way to have a unique and custom piece in your closet. Th…

Vi Peel

2018 Update: Hello Internet! Welcome to my most popular blog post - I presume you're here because you're considering getting a facial peel. Please keep in mind this is an old post and my photo quality is not great. Please feel free to read and enjoy but I do want to let you know that as the years have passed I have taken a more proactive approach with my skin care and I do not get frequent peels. If you'd like to see my modern approach to skincare check out some of my other beauty posts and I'd love for you to connect with me on Instagram to keep up with my latest and greatest recommendations.

Hello! So I got my first Vi Peel which I was super excited about. Since the Botox post was popular I figure y'all would like this too. Besides, it's well established I'm beyond any sense of privacy or shame here.
I got my first peel years ago - a mild Glycolic peel added onto my fac…

Memphis Fashion Week Emerging Designers Preview

April doesn't just mean spring in Memphis is also means fashion! Tickets are completely sold out for this year's Memphis Fashion Week but what I love about MFW is the inclusiveness - the Trunk Show is open to the public Friday and Saturday and Saturday at 11am there will be a free designer talk also open to the public.   MFW always closes with the Emerging Designer Project Runway Show and it has become quite the popular event - you don't typically think of Memphis as being a fashion hub but there is a great amount of talent and creativity here! This year Memphis Fashion Design Network (the parent organization of MFW) hosted a preview of the emerging designer works. While it's always fun to see these works of art come to life on the runway it was really cool to see these pieces up close too - and of course to be able to share with y'all! A crowded party isn't the ideal spot for my best photography but I hope y'all enjoy seeing these designs and if you'…

Memphis Fashion Week 2019 Featured Designers

This year's Memphis Fashion Week (MFW) really emphasized Memphis Fashion and I couldn't love it more if I tried. The Friday Featured Designer Runway show featured four local Memphis designers and one regional designer. I tried to get a photo of each look but sometimes the models move before the shutter snaps or the pic just doesn't come out good but I hope this (pic heavy) post gives you an idea of all the talent in Memphis and the south! Tanganika by Tangie Tangie uses cotton African prints to make beautiful, colorful clothing. I think these items are just so beautifully made and I love the details. I'll admit that in our politically sensitive world I worry that if I wore such a print it could come off as cultural appropriation instead of appreciation but seeing these looks on the runway has really reminded me that my goal this year it to step outside my fashion comfort zone.
