Summer Sparkles with Kendra Scott

Kendra Scott hosted a blogger event for the Memphis Bloggers and there were lots of pretty pieces to try on and see with some sweet treats as well. Look how beautiful these cookies are! Y'all know I'm a big Kendra Scott fan so of course I had to go and check it out.

I tend to buy a few pieces of Kendra Scott jewelry items throughout the year because I love their quality and think they have classic style with a trendy twist. During your birthday month you can get one item 50% off so shopping in July is always especially fun and I tend to go for a more trendy piece. As the newest collection has been released there were plenty of options.

If you're looking for a versatile piece to wear with lots of different outfits a neutral color is always a good idea.

Of course, bright colors are never a bad idea either. These tassel pieces came out Spring 2018 and I've had my eye on them ever since then - they're so fun!

And of course I love sparkly and glam so these luxe design pieces caught my attention

One of the newer releases is the filigree collection. While these were not the earrings I purchased I think I'll be going back for them very soon - they're so pretty and lightweight for a statement earring, plus you can wear them with anything!

I couldn't resist a peak at the fine jewelry collection. A little out of my price range right now but sigh, a girl can dream.

Druzy add some glam at a much friendlier price point.

It looks like the beloved Danielle style is retiring as they were all on sale but I find the replacements to be quite nice. I love the unframed faceted stone in the middle row the best.

And who doesn't love a vibrant pop of color? I don't think I can pick a favorite among this bunch!

Last but certainly not least is the newest items. I'm loving the tassel necklace and statement earrings!

So, what is in my bag?

I wound up purchasing the white tassel earrings. We still have six weeks until labor day and I loved the idea of a light statement earring that I could wear with a lot of different outfits. Plus, I have a event coming up where I'll be wearing all white and I thought these would be perfect for it. My favorite part about these earrings is that the tassels are removable so you can wear them with one, two or 3 drops depending upon how dramatic of a look you want.

Sensible Portions

I'm Sometimes you have to recognize your strengths and when it's time to outsource . For me a healthy lifestyle is not a strength. I love the idea of eating small healthy meals and working out everyday but then I get hangry and eat anything in sight. Or I have a busy weekend and don't have time to meal prep, and then I'm screwed for the week and one bad week turns into a bad month, and a bad year and a decade of gaining weight. So, when a sorority sister posted a meal plan she had found success with I was very interested. Shaun and I tried a similar program last year but it was very expensive ($170 for one person for 5 days) That's a great investment if you need to lose 10 or 20 lbs but when you have a lot to lose you need a long term plan that is viable from a time, nutrition and financial aspect.
Long term it's still pricey but I was very impressed with the value and results of sensible portions and decided to give it a try. Like most meal plans the plan is …

Customize your clothing with Eshakti

Have you ever seen an article of clothing and loved it but thought oh, if only it had sleeves, or was longer - as someone who is 5’10 this happens to me ALL THE TIME! Allow me to introduce you to eShakti - the fashion site that allows you to customize your clothes.

eShakti has hundreds of styles to choose from so picking a piece is honestly the hardest part. I selected this blue and white ruffle stripe dress thinking it would be perfect for spring and summer - I love wearing it now but I can’t wear it to the beach in May! Once you select your item you either enter your size or measurements and enter your height. You can then buy the item as it or pay a $9.95 styling fee to select the neckline, sleeves and length to your liking. My dress was above the knee in the default style but I thought a below the knee length would be perfect and I was not disappointed!
Most pieces are under $100 making this an affordable and approachable way to have a unique and custom piece in your closet. Th…

Vi Peel

2018 Update: Hello Internet! Welcome to my most popular blog post - I presume you're here because you're considering getting a facial peel. Please keep in mind this is an old post and my photo quality is not great. Please feel free to read and enjoy but I do want to let you know that as the years have passed I have taken a more proactive approach with my skin care and I do not get frequent peels. If you'd like to see my modern approach to skincare check out some of my other beauty posts and I'd love for you to connect with me on Instagram to keep up with my latest and greatest recommendations.

Hello! So I got my first Vi Peel which I was super excited about. Since the Botox post was popular I figure y'all would like this too. Besides, it's well established I'm beyond any sense of privacy or shame here.
I got my first peel years ago - a mild Glycolic peel added onto my fac…

Memphis Fashion Week Emerging Designers Preview

April doesn't just mean spring in Memphis is also means fashion! Tickets are completely sold out for this year's Memphis Fashion Week but what I love about MFW is the inclusiveness - the Trunk Show is open to the public Friday and Saturday and Saturday at 11am there will be a free designer talk also open to the public.   MFW always closes with the Emerging Designer Project Runway Show and it has become quite the popular event - you don't typically think of Memphis as being a fashion hub but there is a great amount of talent and creativity here! This year Memphis Fashion Design Network (the parent organization of MFW) hosted a preview of the emerging designer works. While it's always fun to see these works of art come to life on the runway it was really cool to see these pieces up close too - and of course to be able to share with y'all! A crowded party isn't the ideal spot for my best photography but I hope y'all enjoy seeing these designs and if you'…

Memphis Fashion Week 2019 Featured Designers

This year's Memphis Fashion Week (MFW) really emphasized Memphis Fashion and I couldn't love it more if I tried. The Friday Featured Designer Runway show featured four local Memphis designers and one regional designer. I tried to get a photo of each look but sometimes the models move before the shutter snaps or the pic just doesn't come out good but I hope this (pic heavy) post gives you an idea of all the talent in Memphis and the south! Tanganika by Tangie Tangie uses cotton African prints to make beautiful, colorful clothing. I think these items are just so beautifully made and I love the details. I'll admit that in our politically sensitive world I worry that if I wore such a print it could come off as cultural appropriation instead of appreciation but seeing these looks on the runway has really reminded me that my goal this year it to step outside my fashion comfort zone.
