Striped Tee Style

I love pieces I  can wear over and over again yet wear differently each time and a striped tee is on the top of my list of such a clothing item. Dare I say next to jeans it is the most versatile item in my closet.

One thing that I really love about a striped tee is that it’s perfectly fine on its own - pair with jeans and go. It’s timeless, chic and has just enough to not be boring. Of course, pairing with some accessories is always fun and takes the look from safe to adding in some personal style.

While great on its own like a fine wine a striped tee also makes a great paring and can easily be turned into a layering piece under a cardigan or even take a short sleeve dress into fall and winter.

But if you really want to have fun with a stripe tee than  print mixing is wear it’s at. I’m usually hesitant to mix prints but a striped tee is enough of a neutral base that it’s not too much competition. I’m personally a fan of keeping the stripe in a color that’s already in the print but you could really go wild and pick complimenting or even contrasting colors - that’s what personal style is all about, making it your own.

I hope my looks will make you think twice before passing on a “boring” striped tee and inspire you to do some style remix of your own!

  1. Okay, I know this post is about the striped shirt (so cute btw!), but I am LIVING for those pink heart sunglasses! I've seen them on so many bloggers and I need to cave and buy a pair.

    1. you know, I didn't even notice everyone else wearing them until AFTER I bought them, lol! But they're super fun and don't cost too much which is good for me because I always lose or break my sunnies

Plum Paper Designs - Fitness Insert

I know I say this every year but this year I also want to make wellness / fitness a priority. It's hard for me to get in the mindset of making it important because quite frankly it's not something my doctor gets onto me about. But during 2015 I've been making a switch to a more natural lifestyle and that has put fitness back at my top of mind. So, for $4.50 I got the fitness section added onto my Plum Paper Designs Planner
Here's what's inside:

A monthly layout for 12 months
Weight Loss Tracker at the Back

I LOVE the monthly layout! First off, having a hydration tracker for each day is going to be so nice. I also love the idea of holding myself accountable to writing down an activity (or excuse) each day. Most of all I love the recognition that each month will have different goals and includes some note sections ; one thing I hear a lot form people who successfully got fit was that they had some kind of tracking and were able to go back…

20 Rules for Modern Feminine Style

One of the things I love about the digital age is the ability to connect with others! I recently got a great idea from a youtuber I follow to make a list of 20 "rules" that define my lifestyle and I really loved this idea and thought not only would this be a good exercise for myself but a good topic to share with y'all. So, obviously you do you and wear whatever you want but these are my guidelines for my modern feminine without breaking the bank aesthetic.
1. Focus on pieces with wear ability beyond one season, don't get sucked into too many trends. For example, gingham will always be wearable for summer, plaid for fall, sweaters for winter and floral for spring - but get pieces with classic cuts so you can wear them year after year. For example, a gingham shirt dress is classic, a gingham top with bell sleeves will look dated the second that shape is out. 2. Don't be afraid to spend a little more for quality timeless pieces - a cashmere sweater, a great blac…

Jessica London Style Swap

One of my favorite things about social media is how it has become this wonderful shared collective space. When it comes to fashion I love styling outfits and mixing up items in my closet but I also love seeing how other people style the pieces I have and I am always getting style inspiration from others.
In that spirit this month I teamed up with Lexi Nimmo to share some of our favorite pieces for fall from Jessica London. Lexi and I recently discovered that we have the same taste in clothing and tend to pick a lot of the same pieces so we thought it would be fun to team up and style some of the same items on purpose for once. We each picked two items so we could have four looks each to share.
Lexi picked a leather moto jacket and sleeveless mock neck sweater. I decided to get the jacket in blue instead of the traditional black because I wear a lot of blue as is so I knew it would go with a lot of things in my closet. For the mock neck sweater I went with a cream color because I’ve …

How to enjoy your patio in style

I have a confession - I have two tables for dining inside my home and right now neither is suitable for sitting down and having a meal at. Between all the travel and every single weekend for the past few months being filling with either heading out on a trip, coming home from a trip or catching up on laundry and packing for the next trip eating at home and keeping an neat house just hasn't been a priority. So the kitchen table has turned into a grocery staging area and kitchen odds and ends and the dining table has become my package receiving area and suitcase staging. So with the weather suitable for dining al fresco I was thrilled when the folks at Full Beauty Brands reached out about creating an outdoor oasis for our back patio.

My husband Shaun does a pretty good job of mowing the lawn on a regular basis and we have a service to spray to keep the grass green and the weeds at bay but despite our best efforts the grass will not grow right around our patio because the roof sha…

In my Thirtys, Flirty and Thriving

There’s something about birthdays that makes me very reflective. Turning 34 felt like nbd but 35 has me all whoa, wait a minute how did this happen so I’m feeling extra reflective this year and thought this might be a good space to share some of the conclusions I’ve come to over the past year. Plus cake smash pictures, because why not?
Looking back I think I spent a lot of my 20s caring about the wrong things and taking myself too seriously , at 35 I shrug my shoulders at a lot in life so I thought jumping on this goofy trend of adults  doing birthday photo shoots would be a good way to acknowledge my freedom from seriousness. I’m not saying that there’s never a time and place to be serious but life is short , live a little.

The older I’ve become the more I’ve adopted an IDGAF mentality and the less of a people pleaser I am. At the end of the day I am my own responsibility, my happiness , my well being , my life is all my responsibility so I’ve found myself putting myself first. I …
