Utility Jacket Three Way Style

Hello Friends~ I'm back at it again with some more three way style. I'd been thinking of getting a utility jacket for over a year and finally found one I liked when I was at Lane Bryant earlier this month. I love basic classic pieces that can stand the test of time when it comes to fashion and trends and a utility jacket certainly fits that bill but I've always found them a little too masculine for my style. I then thought about getting a pink utility jacket as that is certainly feminine but I was really drawn to the Lane Bryant jacket with a ruffle front - a great feminine embellishment - but the overall look is still classic. Plus, I'm all about challenging myself this year when it comes to style so what better way than to add a piece that's a little outside my comfort zone.

For my first look I kept it very basic - I feel like a stripe shirt and jeans is the most common way I see utility jackets style. I added some statement earrings, funky glasses and blue loa…

20 Guildelines for Financial Responsibility

As a blogger I constantly worry if I am supporting over consumerism and irresponsible spending. At the end of the day I can say Oh, I LOVE this item and it was so worth it to me but I have to hope that people are making the right decisions based on their own financial situation. But since finance is a passion of mine (it is my day job after all) and since so many of y'all are looking to focus on your own finances in 2019 I thought it might be good to take a step back from fashion and talk about the money honey! I don't claim to have all the answers or to be an expert, but I've learned a lot between my education, my career and to be honest making some bad financial decisions myself so I've complied a list of 20 guidelines for financial success from the basics to saving for the future. The Basics 1. You absolutely must be able to cover the four walls - your home and all utilities and maintenance - and your necessary expenses (food, car, gas) before you can think about…

The Girl in the Wal-Mart Shirt

When I talked about weight loss I mentioned how I was never outright made fun of for my weight. I'm always shocked when I hear people talk about their HS experience because man, kids can be SO mean. But that's not to say I was never made fun of in HS - I totally was. When my family moved to the Memphis area it was the summer before my freshman year and I was so excited because everyone is starting fresh in high school,. or so I thought. I had no idea that my high school already had formalized cliques set up and I never had a chance of being invited in. Even though I was chubby but still at a healthy weight I didn't really work out much and had never been one to exercise for fun so I wasn't "fit" and all freshman had to take gym - I dreaded gym because it highlighted how much I didn't fit in. Not only could I not run as fast or do as many sit up at the other girls but I had developed earlier than most of them too - I was 14 and wearing a 36C bra and that…

Lane Bryant Best Fitting Denim

Ask 100 women what is the most versatile items in their closet and I bet 98% will say a pair of jeans. As I mentioned in my 2019 wardrobe goals getting another pair of jeans is on my closet to do this year since right now I only have one pair. And wouldn't you know it but the folks at Lane Bryant must have read my mind since they're offering the Best Fitting Denim event this upcoming weekend and they have asked me to be their special guest so not only I could find my own perfect fitting jeans but help y'all do the same. Lane Bryant offers a good variety of jeans not only in shape but in color, wash and fun details. Before showing the perfect pair for me here's a look at just a few of the options. It was really nice to be able to play around with the wash, length and fit so see what I liked about each.

Although I LOVE the fun ruffle and ribbon embellishments I felt like a traditional pair of jeans matches my lifestyle. I tried on the straight leg and boot cut three ti…

A weight gain story

If a blogger loses weight but doesn’t blog about it did it really happen???? I’m kidding of course but it does seem like there’s a lot of weight loss stories out there. Maybe this time next year I’ll have my own story to write but this isn’t it. Last fall I had a bit of a come to Jesus with myself and really had to think about what I wanted. I’ll be 35 this year and Shaun and I will celebrate our 3rd anniversary - if we’re going to have biological children than this is it - I have got to lose the weight this year because if I can’t we need to pursue other options. Part of that deep reflection was it wasn’t enough to  want to lose the weight - how many time before had I been excited to start only to get discouraged or gain it back. I had to really think about where it came from and what struggles I face in the past; this is that story:
My mom was overweight my entire life, that’s being soft - when she died she was 5’4ish and a size 26 / 28. My dad isn’t naturally overweight but we’re …
