Gingham Style Color Three Ways

Anyone who knows me knows I love gingham for it's classic preppy style and versatility. I have several gingham tops and gingham dresses but am just now getting comfortable with wearing printed bottoms. In addition to being comfortable and perfect for summer I am loving these gingham pants from Jessica London because I can wear them with a variety of colors. The possibilities are endless but in this post we're taking a look at three different colors to pair with gingham.

The most obvious color is white and since gingham is always white and one other color it will go with gingham in any color. A lot of people get intimidated by white because it seems hard to clean - while it's true that white will highlight a stain I find white easier to treat stains that colored garments because it can be bleached. Plus, white gives summer fresh vibe. I went with an off the shoulder top for my white because it also screams summer to me. Since this top has statement sleeves with the side bows and a dramatic neck I decided to skip a necklace and go with statement earrings instead.

Another easy option is to pair with the same color of the gingham - this isn't quite a monochromatic look but is really safe and easy to put together. I wear a lot of blue so I already had this cotton peplum tee in my closet. For accessories I am bringing in a little gingham with the purse; blue earrings would work here but I thought white was a nice touch.

Blue Top : Similar       Gingham Purse: Target      Tassel Earrings : Kendra Scott

For a final look I decided to pair my gingham with a contrasting color - with the gingham print blue and white I thought this would be an easy way to make a red, white and blue outfit. I kept the accessories the same and just swapped out for a different color tee - easy peasy. This is another tee I already had in my closet, I find it's a good idea to keep solid tees in various colors on hand to make easy, comfortable outfits.

These looks here are really simple - if you really want to have fun with gingham you can play around with colors and even do a little print mixing. I'll continue to style these pants various ways this summer but wanted to start off with some simple looks that would be super easy to put together and involve pieces you probably already have in your closet. I hope this post has inspired you to have some fun with gingham this summer.

Sensible Portions

I'm Sometimes you have to recognize your strengths and when it's time to outsource . For me a healthy lifestyle is not a strength. I love the idea of eating small healthy meals and working out everyday but then I get hangry and eat anything in sight. Or I have a busy weekend and don't have time to meal prep, and then I'm screwed for the week and one bad week turns into a bad month, and a bad year and a decade of gaining weight. So, when a sorority sister posted a meal plan she had found success with I was very interested. Shaun and I tried a similar program last year but it was very expensive ($170 for one person for 5 days) That's a great investment if you need to lose 10 or 20 lbs but when you have a lot to lose you need a long term plan that is viable from a time, nutrition and financial aspect.
Long term it's still pricey but I was very impressed with the value and results of sensible portions and decided to give it a try. Like most meal plans the plan is …

Five Closet Essentials for Every Woman

Getting dressed doesn’t have to be complicated, but how many times have you gone into your closet and said I have nothing to wear? Personally I like clothes and I like having a closet full of clothes but I recognize that there is such a thing of too much of a good thing and too much can make it overwhelming.
1. Black Pants  A pair of black pants can take you anywhere - work, school, running errands, out to dinner. Personally I’m a fan of a slim fit ankle pant because it think it’s not too formal for all my non work occasions but nice enough to wear to the office.
2. A shift style dress  To me this is another wear it anywhere article of clothing if you get it in a nice but casual fabric. I think there’s a little flexibility here depending on your lifestyle - if you’re a busy professional would would wear this dress to work frequently I would recommend a more formal fabric for your dress vs stay at home moms or women who work in a casual environment.
3. Solid color tee  Although typ…

Botox

So, I get botox, only under my eyes, 3 units each at $12 a unit, that's $72. I do not tip because it's done by a nurse and nurses are not supposed to accept tips, plus she owns the company, so $72 flat. This is less than fancy eye cream I bought that was worthless. So what does it do? Well . . .

For those who have never had it here's what happens: You go to a spa or medical office and make your appointment. The first time you talk about what you're wanting the results to be. I strongly recommend doing your research on how many units, start low, you can always go back for more. I did two units under each eye the first time and I'm very happy having gone up to 3, but I was quite satisfied with 2. You then lay down on a chair that's similar to the ones at the dentist office, only way higher. For me getting it under the eyes I just stare at the ceiling while the nurse holds in skin taunt and injects it in, one one needle prick per spot, no unit so thank goodness …

Hello! So I got my first Vi Peel which I was super excited about. Since the Botox post was popular I figure y'all would like this too. Besides, it's well established I'm beyond any sense of privacy or shame here.
I got my first peel years ago - a mild Glycolic peel added onto my fac…

Plum Paper Designs - Fitness Insert

I know I say this every year but this year I also want to make wellness / fitness a priority. It's hard for me to get in the mindset of making it important because quite frankly it's not something my doctor gets onto me about. But during 2015 I've been making a switch to a more natural lifestyle and that has put fitness back at my top of mind. So, for $4.50 I got the fitness section added onto my Plum Paper Designs Planner
Here's what's inside:

A monthly layout for 12 months
Weight Loss Tracker at the Back

I LOVE the monthly layout! First off, having a hydration tracker for each day is going to be so nice. I also love the idea of holding myself accountable to writing down an activity (or excuse) each day. Most of all I love the recognition that each month will have different goals and includes some note sections ; one thing I hear a lot form people who successfully got fit was that they had some kind of tracking and were able to go back…
