How to Style a White Dress for Summer



Ok, so the official first day of summer isn't until later this month but with temps already in the 90s It's already summer as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes I struggle with summer attire because I still spend my Monday - Friday at the office so shorts and tanks just aren't on my radar but I'm trying to do a better job of going sleeveless and wearing more summery colors. Since traditionally white is worn from Easter to Labor day (yes, I still follow this rule) I try to get as much wearing white in as possible during the hot summer months. I know a lot of plus size women shy away from white but I say go for it!





This year I got a new white dress from Jessica London that is perfect for looking cute on the weekend but also appropriate for the office. To keep my white dress from looking boring I like to pair with some statement pieces - here I am carrying a bright and sunny bag and wearing a fun statement necklace. Ordinarily I wouldn't wear a statement necklace in the summer as I hate things hanging off my neck when I am hot but this one is super light. This dress does comes with a white tie around belt but I thought the skinny gold was a nice way to break up the white and make the dress a little dressy without adding additional layers.

I'm wearing white heeled sandals here for a dressy weekend look - this look would be perfect for a summer social gathering (as long as it isn't wedding related because unless you're the bride you shouldn't wear white) or date night. For the office I swapped the heeled sandals for gold ballet flats but really you could do any color shoe.

Five Closet Essentials for Every Woman

Getting dressed doesn’t have to be complicated, but how many times have you gone into your closet and said I have nothing to wear? Personally I like clothes and I like having a closet full of clothes but I recognize that there is such a thing of too much of a good thing and too much can make it overwhelming. 
1. Black Pants  A pair of black pants can take you anywhere - work, school, running errands, out to dinner. Personally I’m a fan of a slim fit ankle pant because it think it’s not too formal for all my non work occasions but nice enough to wear to the office.

So, I get botox, only under my eyes, 3 units each at $12 a unit, that's $72. I do not tip because it's done by a nurse and nurses are not supposed to accept tips, plus she owns the company, so $72 flat. This is less than fancy eye cream I bought that was worthless. So what does it do? Well . . .


For those who have never had it here's what happens: You go to a spa or medical office and make your appointment. The first time you talk about what you're wanting the results to be. I strongly recommend doing your research on how many units, start low, you can always go back for more. I did two units under each eye the first time and I'm very happy having gone up to 3, but I was quite satisfied with 2. You then lay down on a chair that's similar to the ones at the dentist office, only way higher. For me getting it under the eyes I just stare at the ceiling while the nurse holds in skin taunt and injects it in, one one needle prick per spot, no unit so thank goodness …
