Happy Monday y’all and happy
Valentine’s week! My Valentine is actually out of town this week so I’ll be celebrating
this weekend. It seems during the winter month’s there’s not a lot of exciting
things going on so it will be nice to up our date night game for one week.

If you follow me on instagram
than you’ve probably seen me post a lot of stationary and planner goodies lately.
I’ve actually been a stationary addict my entire life but I got into the “glam
planning” scene about two years ago. Glam Planning basically means that I don’t
just writer stuff down in a planner or use my phone to keep up with
appointments – I have monthly and weekly layouts decorated with washi, stickers,
stamps and markers each week. Some people use kits each week and have no white
space in their planner, others use mostly lettering with maybe a few function
stamps and stickers – my planning style have developed somewhere in-between.
My current planner is the Mambi
Happy Planner which I purchased from Michael’s and I have an upgraded cover
that was a separate purchase but is also from the Mambi brand. The band is actually a headband from the Dollar Tree and I’ve added a few stickers for fun.

I think when
this planner is out this summer I will switch back to coiled planner such as
the Erin Condren life planner – I thought I would like the disc systems because
it makes the pages interchangeable but I find that I seldom move pages around
and I think a coil is more secure than the discs.

I usually plan on the weekends
and spend about an hour setting up my layout for the week. I actually find this
quitter relaxing and it makes me feel good going into the week knowing that I
have reviewed what’s going on this week. Here’s what a blank layout looks like
in The Happy Planner:

The first thing to do is decide
my theme for the week – I usually pick a theme based on something going on that
week but if there is no holiday or big event I’ll just go with whatever color
theme I’m into these days – I been really digging pink and mint together lately
and bought a ton of stickers from Michael’s in January with this color scheme.
For this week I selected from miscellaneous stickers I ordered from Paper Loving
Mommy – she has a misfits set that’s $15 for 30 sheets – it’s mostly functional
stickers and checklists but there were about 7 sheets that could be used to
create a weekly theme. For this week I knew I wanted to go with a Valentine theme
so I picked so sparkle themed boarders. Often I just use washi as my boarder
but since I had these stickers I decided to put them to use.

Once the boarder is established I
think about how I want to use the layout for the week. My planner has 3
vertical boxes for each day and lately I have been using them for today – to do
– meal planning. I tend to have weekly to do instead of things that must be
accomplished on a certain day so I will put checklists in two of the middle
boxes and use decorative boxes or stickers in the others. I also really like
having a weekend banner so I either use a sticker or draw one.

Once the base layout is established
I think about what needs to go in my today and meal planning sections.
Currently I use the today section to plan out my outfits for the week so I’m
using mini checklists to list out the garments for each day and I also use this
section to plan out what blog post I want to publish that day. For the bottom
section I use this to keep up with the meal plan I am currently on and when I
will be eating dinner out and when I will be having the meal plan for dinner, this is also where I track my hydration.
Once space is dedicated for these functions I will add a few decorative
stickers to accent the layout – this is really just for fun.

Finally it’s time to actually
write in the planner. As you can see I am eating out twice this week, have not
yet decided what to wear Wednesday and Thursday and am still pondering what to
blog about Thursday and Friday. – I will probably finish planning out these
items tonight.

You could say that planning is
hobby since it involves but fun stickers that aren’t really necessary but at
the same time I feel more productive when I plan for the week – there’s a
saying that a goal without a plan is just a dream. Right now there’s not too
much going on outside of work but the busier we are the more I find I “need”
planning to keep me on track for whatever goals I may be focused on. I highly
recommend it!
