Memphis Fashion Week 2017 Kickoff Event

Last night Memphis
Fashion Week started with a kickoff event at The Lab. MFW is run by Memphis
Fashion Design Network and The Lab is the office / creative space for Memphis
designers. Read more about it
here
 .

The Kickoff Party
featured products from designers participating in this week’s event and offered
fashionistas the opportunity to meet the designers and shop their wares.

Although there were
many beautiful pieces on hand I decided to wait on purchases but did go home
and follow some of the favorites I saw on social media so I can keep up with
them for the future. I’ve been setting aside most of my fashion money for the
past two months to shop the Victoria Beckham collection at Target that’s being
released on Sunday – it’s a big week for fashion!

Some of my favorite
fashions from the event:

Tiena Gwin

 Sheila J Designs

This dress is reversible – how fun!

 Beg and Borrow

Accessories I loved
but didn’t get a chance to photograph were
Brave Design, a local jewelry
designer featuring lots of natural raw stones and a purse designer based out of LA which had tassels on all the bags – these pieces tempted me the most.

For the event I wore a Nicole by Nicole Miller top and statement necklace from Anthropologie (it’s from 2013). I was hesitant about wearing two bold pieces together and 1/2 of my FB friends surveyed supported it while 1/2 didn’t but the necklace got lots of compliments and a few people even remarked how it went well with the top. Sometimes you’ve gotta go big or go home

I also carried my old school Nicole Miller purse. Nicole Miller is the headliner designer for this year’s festivities.

Tonight is the VIP
Preview party so be sure to stop by tomorrow for my recap. Friday and Saturday
are the fashion shows and I’ll recap those over the weekend or Monday. Expect
lots of posts here and on social media over the next five days focusing on
fashion, if you want to keep up with my MFW adventures follow me on
