The Perfect Plus Size Jeans

The perfect pair of jeans can be such a challenge to find and it means something different to everyone. I was kind of a prissy kid and didn’t wear jeans until I was 11.In high school and college I wore jeans on occasion and once I entered the professional world I rarely wore jeans, even on casual Fridays. For years the only jeans I even owned were Talbots Trouser Jeans – which I still strongly recommend if you work in a more formal environment that only allows jeans on Fridays. But where I am in my life currently jeans really fit my lifestyle and I wear them to work several times a week.

When I started my current job last year I knew that I’d need to start wearing jeans more and I purchased two high end pairs off the Nordstrom site. Unless you’re just really anti pants I think everyone needs a pair of dark wash, boot cut jeans as they are universally flattering and can be dressed up and down – from there the possibilities are endless! I also own a faded wash pair and I think my next pair will be a new trouser style but I tend to wear my dark wash boot cut the most and they are a wardrobe must for me. Thing is if you’re wearing jeans 1/2 of the time even a high end pair isn’t going to last for years and a few months ago I noticed that my dark wash pair were getting too worn in the thighs. Originally I purchased another $90 pair and when they arrived I just wasn’t impressed with the fit and at the urging of a sorority sister I decided to give a more reasonable price point pair a try and was thrilled with the results – in fact I think these might be the most perfect jeans I have ever owned!

I’ve worn Old Navy jeans for years, in fact I college I specifically remember giving my Dad the pair I arrived to campus in and asking for the exact same ones one size up for Christmas. As my size increased in my lifestyle changed I drifted away from the Old Navy jean, it wasn’t intentional it just happened over time but I sure am glad I found my way back.

The smooth and comfort seems to be limited to plus sizes and there’s several styles to choose from. This particular pair goes on like a jegging but has the fit of a jean. I was a little skeptical of a pull on jean but the stretch material eliminates one of my biggest problems with jeans – the difference in fit between new / freshly washed and relaxed after a few wears. Like any jeans this pair does relax with wear but the change is not as drastic so they fit better the first time and keep their shape with wear, also there’s not that annoying gap in the back of the waistband.

Honestly, I’d pay more for a good fitting jean but this pair is super reasonable on the price, retail is $46.99 and there’s always some kind of discount on the Old Navy website, right now everything is 30% off so this pair would be $32.89. For once finding the perfect piece doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Three cheers for the folks at Old Navy!
