Girls with Pearls . . . and Velvet too

I am so excited for this post y’all because I’ve teamed up with a fabulous fellow Memphis blogger to bring y’all some style inspiration for this season’s hot trends.

One of my favorite things about blogging / instagram is seeing how others style current trends or even the same pieces. When Tabitha and I discussed getting together for a collab post we picked the pearl studded trend to both incorporate into our outfit but as it turns out we both added some velvet too. What I love about this is how we have very different looks – I’m tall and plus size while Tabitha is more average in both height and size, different lifestyles – Tabitha is a Mom who works from home while I’m a not yet mom who works in an office, and even different taste – I would say Tabitha’ style is classic with an edgy twist while I tend to be pretty feminine in my style ; yet we are both incorporating two current trends into our look and both looks are pretty great if I do say so myself.

Blogger babes are the best and I really do believe that style is a form of creativity and I enjoy seeing everyone’s unique take. I feel like my style is affected not only by current trends but by the stylish ladies I follow. I think when you see different bloggers interpret styles differently it makes fashion more approachable – these days I’m far more likely to get ideas for something I “need” to add to my closet from Instagram than I am a fashion magazine.

On Tabitha’s outfit I LOVE this all black outfit with the purple cardigan and fun flats. I’m also pretty much obsessed with the purse Tabitha choose to incorporate pearl studs. I would usually tend towards wearing a shirt as my pop of color and sticking to neutral color cardigans but this look is just really great and makes me want to go out and buy a purple cardigan. Another thing I really like about Tabitha’s outfit is that it’s very versatile – It’s business casual but polished enough for an informal client meeting, stylish enough for a night out, and comfortable enough for running errands on the weekend; besides going to the gym and a super formal office settings I can’t think of where you couldn’t wear this outfit.

For my outfit my intention wasn’t to go full on girly but I just felt like this top went really well with the skirt. To keep the look from getting too frilly I brought in a brown belt to break up the monochromatic look (and hide the boring waist band on the skirt if I’m being perfectly honest) , and animal print clutch and shoes to bring in a some “grown up flair” – I love pink but I think not dressing like a little girl is one thing you have to be careful with when wearing it. I definitely won’t be strolling the aisles of target in these shoes but I have worn my outfit to work and out to dinner.
