I really wanted to have this post up yesterday but if you’ve been following my instagram stories at all you will have seen that I remembered this weekend that I still needed to refinish my dining room table if I had any hopes of using it for Thanksgiving (and yes, I am on track to finish it tonight, Woohoo!) So here I am a day late but not a dollar short with a post on some fun fashion finds.

Last week I attended the preview party for a new online boutique started by Memphis Blogger Shelby Jewel. Shelby has beautiful taste so I knew I was interested in checking out her boutique.

Nothing says welcome like a glass of Champagne!

Racks of beautiful tops

Swoon worthy Jackets

Pretty Tassel Earrings

So, I’ll admit I was very nervous about this event, Shelby is very small and most boutique sizes are small as well – I am not. But, I really wanted to see the pretty things and thought hey, you never know. As I predicted clothing is available in S – L but I have found that with some boutique brands depending on the style a L can be very generous and sure enough I found a few things to try on.

I’m always in need of good basic pieces so I was attracted to this oversized black sweater, which is obviously more fitted on me – but it’s a L and I typically wear and XXL. Although not how it’s intended to fit I actually liked the fit (I have the sleeves gathered, I tend to do this a lot without realizing I’m doing it)- it’s not a bulky pieces but not thin either. Here it is on the model.

I also found a beautiful cozy sweater with ties on the sleeves, awkward pic I know but I was trying to get the sleeves in. This sweater is really soft and has stretch to it, plus the color is perfect for this time of year!

Here’s the sweater with its intended fit:

Being plus sized I don’t like wearing things too oversized because it adds volume I don’t need so down in an oversized item actually works for me. I wound up purchasing the rust colored sweater but the more I think about it to more I regret not buying the black sweater as well.

For those of y’all where sizing wouldn’t be a concern here’s some of my other favorite items:

Ruched Sleeve Blazer – I actually own a similar Blazer in purple, It’s a really great piece and I promise you would get A LOT of wear out of this one.

Peplum top – I was actually going to try this on but it because clear it was going to be a tight fit and I didn’t want to stretch it out but if you wear up to a size L this would be so cute and cozy.

Wine colored top  – I don’t know why I didn’t try this one on to see how oversized it is because the color is gorgeous.

One thing I think is really great about Shelby’s boutique is that nothing is over $55 – I really appreciate this because I hate when I see someone wearing something I would love and its way out of my price range. I think it is so great that Shelby is looking to make beautiful fashion affordable.

Another thing that makes Shelby’s boutique stand out in my opinion is the way the pieces are styled; I feel like you could find similar pieces elsewhere but she has styled each piece so well for a look that is fashionable yet sophisticated and feels more high end than the price point.

Overall impressions are that Shelby has curated a beautiful collection and I can’t wait to see more from her. Check out the boutique here. Also, you should check her out on Instagram.
