Medical Facial at Ashtoria

Y’all, it has been soooooo long since I’ve tried a new beauty treatment to share with y’all. Partially because I’ve fallen into a skin care routine but also partially because it hasn’t been an areas of focus, which is terrible because taking care of your skin should always be an area of focus. Lucky for me the ladies as Ashtoria were able to get me back on track.

I recently found out about Ashtoria while attending an event at The Shops of Carriage Crossing and was excited to learn about the medical aesthetics offerings. Although I put a hold on getting Botox a few years ago I’m always down to check out the latest in anti aging. I’d love to one day get laser treatments but I don'[t feel like I’m there yet so for an entry level introduction into the Ashtoria offerings I decided to book a medical grade facial.

One thing that I typically find overwhelming when thinking about getting a facial is there can be so many types to choose from and I’m usually not sure exactly what I need. Ashtoria took away this worry – there’s only one facial option for $150 and it’s 100% inclusive for whatever your needs are. No laying there trying to relax while being upsold on extractions or a peel add on wondering if you really “need” it or if there’s a sales goal to be met.

The facial room has lots of gadgets and devices and they’re all at the aestheticians disposal to meet your skins needs. When I arrived I was instructed to remove my clothing, wear a provided wrap and get into the bed. As a plus size woman one thing that also concerns me is getting a robe made for a size 2 , not to worry – the wrap had an elastic top that stretched without being tight and uncomfortable and there was enough material that I wasn’t left hanging out. The bed was heated and super cozy being tucked in with a down comforter – If I wasn’t so interested in the process I could have taken a nap.

After getting cleansed and assessed the aesthetician spot treated me with a double enzyme mask and steamed my face for a bit to ease with extractions. Getting extractions is always a little painful but I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient it was and didn’t take long at all. I then received a microdermabrasion treatment and light peel and then had a mud type mask applied. While the mask was setting an LED light therapy device was put over my face to help stimulate collagen production and got a lovely hand arm and shoulder massage. The process finished with a generous application of moisturizer and eye treatment. On the way out I was given samples of the products used on me which I thought was a nice touch and gives me the opportunity to give them another try.

I left feeling relaxed and fresh faced – it’s been 12 days and my skin still feels smooth and I haven’t had a single blemish pop up. Not only is the pricing competitive in the Memphis market (I typically see Microdermabrasion facials around $195) but it was so nice walking into my appointment knowing exactly what my price would be and getting to enjoy the experience without being sold to.

I’m so happy to have given Ashtoria a try and can’t wait for my next visit.
