This is my third year making a list of wardrobe additions for the New
Year. Although towards the back end of 2018 I got carried away adding all the
pretty things to my closet I really feel like I did a good job balancing modern
feminine pieces I can wear for years and incorporating some fun trends.

Each year I like to evaluate my closet and not only get rid of what
needs to go but think about what is missing. Are there items where I put an
outfit together and thought oh, if only I had X this would be the perfect
outfit? I like to be open to trends and new items I didn’t even know would be
happening – hello Draper James x Eloquii – but I also think it’s important to
think of a few key pieces of an overall wardrobe each year. So before I talk
about my 2019 list let’s recap my 2018 list and see if I found it.

2018 Items

Skinny Jeans – YES!

Skinny Jean: Torrid Top: Saga Clothing Earrings: Kendra Scott Maize Flats: Similar
I cannot believe this was a new
in 2018 purchase because I wear them ALL THE TIME. Of course, part of that is
right now they’re my only jeans but I’m certainly glad to have them.

 Cashmere Cardigan – YES!

Cardigan: Neiman Marcus Dress: Maree Pour Toi Boots : Similar Bag: Shop I Love Jewelry

I really wanted to keep this one around $100 but when the price hit
around $130 I bit the bullet and purchased in March. It has been the perfect
addition to adding a little polish to jeans and a top and has gone quite well
with skirts and dresses as well. Cashmere is the goldilocks of sweaters in my
opinion – not to bulky, not too hot and nice quality.

 Denim Skirt – YES!

Top: Draper James similar Skirt: Draper James Plus and Draper James Straight Earrings : Kendra Scott

Oh y’all – I was really getting to the point where I thought I would
never find a not super short, not too long, not ripped or faded denim skirt in
plus size. Luckily Draper James came through with a win.

 Silk Blouse – YES!

Jacket, Blouse and Pants all Maree Pour Toi

I really struggled with this one as I wanted something that wasn’t
incorporating trendy styles and I could wear for years. New brand Maree Pour
Toi hit the market last September and I was so excited to see a silk top in
their offers (friendly head’s up –it’s now on sale). My favorite part of this
blouse is that it’s washable – because I don’t have time to run to the dry
cleaners every time I wasn’t to wear it.

 Kendra Scott Earrings – YES!

I pretty much buy new Kendra Scott earring every year for my birthday
and again for the holidays. This year I got the beautiful maize earrings and I’ve
received so many compliments on them and I love that they’re more lightweight
than other KS styles.

 Gold Wedges – NO L

Quilted Ballet Flats – NO L

Silver Pointy Heel – No L

I wasn’t able to find any of the shoes I was looking for – I did get a
few pairs of new shoes in the year but not the ones I was really wanting so
this will be a continued effort in 2019.

Additional items not on original list: leather skirt, black skinnypants, leather jacket

I also had the opportunity to add to my closet some pieces that were
in the back of my mind but not something I was looking to focus on. Loft
offered an amazing deal on their faux leather skirt in the fall and I’m in love
with the skinny black pants I picked up there (y’all are too, this is more my
clicked on item in 2018). For the leather jacket Maree Pour Toi came through once
again with a piece that’s versatile and stylish.

2019 In Search of

Tall Boots

Silver Pointy heels
Gold wedges
Ballet Flats
Statement Earrings
Boot cut Jeans
Belts
White wrap
top

Blazer

Right now I’m feeling very accessory focused for 2019. I feel like I have a pretty decent amount of clothing so I want to focus on the pieces I need to be able to style what I own different ways. For example, I’ve love to pair some of my dresses with an OTK boot.  In 2019 I want to get a little more creative with my wardrobe and style pieces differently and take a little more risks with my style while still sticking to modern feminine pieces.
Do you have style goals for 2019? I’d love to hear them!
