Plus Size Swimsuit Save vs Splurge

Plus Size Swimsuit Save vs Splurge

Whether you are heading to the beach of cooling down in a backyard kiddie pool everyone needs a swimsuit for summer! Unfortunately plus size swimsuits tend to be more expensive than straight sizes and the options are limited. Swimsuits can also be a touchy topic for plus size women but I think it’s important to remember that your weight does not define your worthiness to wear a swimsuit. Plus Size swimsuits come in a variety of coverage from swim dresses to bikinis; I personally prefer to hover in between these two with one pieces and tankinis.

This year I was able to add three suits to my swim wardrobe at a variety of price points and I am sharing tips for finding the best plus size swimsuit with y’all here.

Save

I consider anything under $40 to be a great price for a plus size swimsuit. While I can shop end of season sales to find this price my favorite place to shop for affordable plus size swimsuits is Walmart! I have several Walmart swimsuits from over the years that are still in my rotation. In the past Walmart has limited plus size picks to one pieces and swim dresses but I have seen a lot of cute two pieces last year and again in 2020.

This year I really wanted a simply navy swimsuit and this was not available at Walmart so I turned towards another affordable price favorite -Amazon. I was able to score this Anne Cole one piece on sale for $38. (Note – the price seems to change so I am letting you know what I paid so you can look for the best price)

I also really loved the Draper James x Lands End collection and selected pieces to compliment my navy swimsuit. I like rash guards because I spend most of my beach / pool time in the water so I don’t have to worry about my sunblock washing off. Right now the collection is on sale and the rash guards are under $30, there are also swimsuits in the magnolia print if that is more your speed.

Mid Range

Each year more plus size retailers are dipping into the swimwear market with their own collections and this year Chic Soul has joined the party. Chic Soul offers swimsuits at a great mid range price of $40 to $70 with one pieces being less than two pieces complete sets. Some of the one pieces offer mesh cutouts with ups the sexiness in my option but they do have more modest one pieces too. I like that everything is mix and match with the two pieces so you can make it your own. I selected matching pieces in a pretty turquoise to match the turquoise waters of the Florida panhandle. I love the peplum style of the top and wile the cups were a littler smaller than my typical F cup I was very pleased that they were sturdy and supportive the entire time I was in the ocean.

Splurge

My final addition is a bit of a splurge from Curvy Swimwear and a new to me brand but the ruffle and the feminine design made it irresistible. With a ruffle that can be worn on or off the shoulders as well as removable straps this swimsuit is very versatile. In addition to the unique style and prints I found the material to feel more luxurious than lower priced swim options and it was fully lined with a bit more support in the chest area. Curvy swimwear offers everything from bikinis to swim dresses so matter your comfort level they’ve got you covered. Since it is a splurge be sure to use my code Memphis15 to save 15% on your purchase.
