For several years now instead of getting each other big gifts we pick out new things for our home. This year we decided to refresh all of our bedding and get new bath sheets. We’re also getting a new patio set. I’ve rounded up some of our favorite things around our home to give you ideas for what to get for your home or gift to a couple in your life.
Our kitchen favorites probably get the most use beyond our bedding. I’ve heard people say mixers are a waste of countertop space but we use ours on a regular basis for baking and cooking. The fondue set is another item that is traditionally considered to be something to gather dust but this year we have had many fondue date nights at home. Our coffee maker and blender get used daily and the bar cart is not only a pretty piece to have but is fun to decorate and a good place to keep our alcohol and glasses.

We let our dogs sleep in the bed so our bedding had gotten a little rough. We love a down comforter and pretty duvet – it makes getting into bed feel so luxurious! We also got new high tread count sheets so we have another set to swap out more frequently. For a cozy throw I absolutely love the faux fur unhide brand – Bella does too because she keeps stealing the ones I get for myself, lol! Finally, we got some plush bath sheets – these are bigger than towels so great for wrapping up out of the shower, a must for winter imo!

Last year our gifts to ourselves was the Dyson Animal and Roomba i7. These have turned out to be such great purchases as together they really keep up with the dog hair. There are less affordable Roombas out there but we love not having to empty the device after every vacuum. This time of year is also a great time to stock up on specialty cleaning products. While we live Dropps for all our regular laundry I use The Laundress for delicate items and treating stains.

Right now is also a great time to get some pretty home decor pieces – I love these gold shelves so much I have them in my dining room and home office. I’m also a big fan of statement rugs and mirrors! We have a very similar mirror in our dining room and it was my first “nice” home purchase as an adult 10 years ago!

This year we asked Shaun’s parents for patio furniture and then we are buying the decor pieces to complete the space. I am really looking forward to firing up the fire pit and enjoying a glass of wine. I think one thing this year has given us is an appreciation for having cozy spaces to unwind in our home.
