Three Way Style : Magnolia Dot Skirt

Three Way Style : Magnolia Dot Skirt

This year has been a lot so I’ve fallen out of a lot of my routines including sharing three way looks. As things have settled down it’s definitely a routine I want to pick up again because I very much believe that clothing items should be versatile. I fully admit that I am a bit of a clothes hoarder – I have over 135 dresses alone! But, I do try and make sure that new pieces can mix into my wardrobe with other pieces I already own. Skirts are great pieces for mixing and matching and I love how they can be dressed up or dressed down. If you’ve been following me for a while you know I’m a huge fan of Draper James. Draper James rarely does skirts (they are really known for their beautiful but approachable dresses and are a big part of my 135 collection, lol). So, when I saw a skirt in their signature magnolia print in fall colors I knew I had to have it and this would be a piece I would be able to frequently restyle.

First, a little note on sizing: The magnolia dot waterfall skirt comes in sizes xs to 3xl. I am wearing the 3xl and have room to spare in the elastic waist. I am 5’10 and typically wear a size 22.

For my first look I keep it pretty simple with a oatmeal sweater, booties and a headband. I wore this look to an outdoor beer garden night so the booties were a practical choice but a simple pump would also look good with this styling. I also think a camel sweater would look great but mine is a little too heavy for the weather we are having right now, I will probably wear it come November.

My headband is pretty much a perfect match for this skirt!

My next look is more of a dark fall mood look. I think pairing a black hat and tall black boots can give an piece a ready for fall look so this is a formula I tend to wear on repeat. My black turtleneck is something I wear frequently during cooler weather because it’s very soft and hugs my curves in all the right places.

For a final look I wanted to dress this skirt down so I paired with a chambray top and white sneakers. This was a perfect look for a day of running errands but still wanting to look cute. While I do think this skirt has a more dressy vibe I was very pleased to see how well it paired with casual pieces. As it turned out, we had a high of 88 the day I wore this look so it was really great for not being over heated too. Dressing for fall with summer temps is always a challenge but I think this look nails it.

Shop this look here – I have included a similar top from the same brand, the preview icon is a different color but it does come in chambray.

If you love this print but I haven’t convinced you that this skirt is a great versatile piece to add to your wardrobe you can also grab it in a dress. I have this silhouette in another colorway and it’s an easy, breezy style to wear.

Either way, you can’t go wrong with this print. If I was working in the office either piece is something I would wear to work. But, this skirt has proven to be great for a variety of my weekend activities. I hope this post has inspired you to mix and match a skirt for some fun looks be it this one or a favorite already in your closet.
