I saw a lot of sponsored ads on IG for JessaKae and was very intrigued. The brand offers beautiful dressed in the cottage core / grand millennial / girly aesthetic up to size 6x so it seemed like a good fit for my lifestyle.
I selected the Wandering Willoughby dress as my first one and loved it so much I quickly got more. A year later I now have 20 JessaKae dresses with a few more on the way; so I guess you could say I am a huge fan. I love how I feel beautiful and feminine in JessaKae dresses and appreciate that they are designed to be flattering on all body type. I am 5’10 and currently wear a size 18 – I typically wear a 2x in JessaKae.
Since I have been wearing these dresses for a while now I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of their sizing. Each item on the JessaKae site has its own size chart so you’ll want to be sure and check it out before ordering. One thing I really like about JessaKae is that they have models in different sizes showing off each style and provide the model’s stats. According to the JessaKae size chart my size 18 is a 2x. I general I find their dresses to be true to size but sometimes need to make adjustments. My rules for ordering from JessaKae are:
1. When a dress has smocking all the way around on the top it will run large and I order one size down.
2. Where a dress has smocking only in the back it runs true to size.
3. When a dress has no smocking but is not fitted in the hips it also runs true to size.
4. Rarely, when a dress is made with fabric with no stretch and the back zips and the style is slim in the hips I personally find it more comfortable to go one size up.
It’s important to note that JessaKae returns are pretty strict. Returns must be initiated within 20 days after an order is placed so there is not a lot of time once receiving your package to try on and determine if it works for you. Returns also have a $6 shipping fee and will be given on as a store credit rather than original payment method. Due to these policies I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to carefully review the size chart for each item you are interested in ordering. Keep in mind that JessaKae is a small brand and these policies are in place so they can operate their business.
Between the item specific size charts and various sized models I think JessaKae is doing everything they can to eliminate sizing concerns. But, this is not the site imo to order a bunch of stuff from just to try on.
