If you have any level of social media presence you no doubt are familiar with the Nordstrom sale. This sale has a lot of hype and while some people love it others can’t stand it. I used to be one who can’t stand it and while I’m never going to be one to drop thousands of dollars on a massive haul I’ve learned to appreciate it. Because the Nordstrom Sale is one of the few sales where items go on sale at the start of the season I find paying attention to what is popular is a good way to get an idea of the trends for fall.
Since I see the Nordstrom Sale as a good trend forecast I like to round up my recommendations by trend. Now some things are no brainers – jackets and sweaters are ALWAYS going to be “in” for fall; but others are definitely in the moment – faux leather has been on trend the past few years and there’s a lot of it in this year’s sale. This year’s new trends are lilac anything and platform shoes. Now, you can just use the Nordstrom Sale as a market pulse and look for these trends elsewhere or you can save some time hunting them down and grab them in the sale if you think the price is right. With the exception of a few beauty items I’m keeping my recommendations under $100 this year, most are $40 to $65.
Here are my top trends to look for in this year’s Nordstrom Sale
Shop Lilac
This purplish pink isn’t something we usually associate with fall but I think it’s lots of fun! Adding one piece to a typical fall outfit is going to be the perfect way to make a classic piece look current. I plan on pairing my top with the faux leather skirt below.
Shop Faux Leather
Faux leather has been growing in popularity the past few years and we’re seeing it on all types of clothing this year. Like most people, I bought my Spanx Faux leather leggings during a prior year sale – this is one of the very few times a year they are available for this price!
Shop Fall Floral
As someone who loves florals I am not mad that they have been popular for fall these past few years. I especially love when these prints come in rich jewel tones.
Shop Elevated Classics
I am a huge fan on stocking your closet with classic pieces and I love seeing these beautiful silhouettes in colors beyond black.
Shop Sweaters
Is there anything better than curling up with a cup of hot chocolate while wearing a cozy sweater? We’re seeing less trendy details on sweaters this year which means what you buy now can become a closet classic to wear for years to come.
Shop Jackets
Jacket weather is my absolute favorite weather! This year we are seeing jackets in simpler styles than years past.
Shop Platform Shoes
This is a trend I am really excited to try for fall. I personally am going for a pair in pink but there’s lots of great options to choose from and many of these styles come in multiple colors.
Shop Chain Link Details
Last year’s chain link mules were an early sellout so if you missed out they are back (and imo better this year). If mules aren’t your thing it’s ok because we’re seeing this trend on other silhouettes.
Shop Loungewear
It’s hard to find cute pajamas, especially as a plus size gal but these are soooo comfortable and some of my favorites. Last year I finally got a barefoot dreams cardigan and honestly it is better than all the dupes out there – this is a good time to grab one for a better price.
Shop Beauty
Many of my luxury beauty favorites are included in this year’s sale. I LOVE Tom Ford perfume and have the one’s I’ve included here but they are so expensive so this is a great time to buy if they are ordinarily out of budget.
